    Hi all,

New to the forum and was wondering if any of you kind people might be able to help!

Ok, long story so please be patient.

We are having trouble with our colours changing when we open files into wasatch.

    Ok here what we got:-

Uniform Cadet SP540V Print and Cut
    Running Wasatch Version 6.7
Inks:- Colourific (which are the exact same as the Activasol)
Design software:- Corel Draw X3 and Adobe CS4

Ok, about a year ago we have a few issues with opening artwork into Wasatch version 6.0 and the colours changing, normally being darker. We had run with no problems for a couple years and no profiles etc had been changed. It happened more often over the next couple of months, so we upgraded to 6.7 the new version last summer. We copied over our profiles but we still were having problems.

Over the last couple of months it has got worse and now probably 90% of artwork is a problem. We have opened EPS files, Pdf’s, Jpegs and Tiffs and have problems with all of them. Sometimes the artwork is created by ourselves in Corel or photoshop or it is customers artwork supplied in a variety of formats. When the file is opened in Wasatch it look a lot darker and prints a lot darker than it looks in Corel/Photoshop/Pdf’s. If the file has photographs in it the photographs have a funny sort of cloudy film over it and its definitely not how it should be.

We contacted our ink supplier, a engineer took control of the RIP checked all the settings and checked colour management in corel and photoshop etc. He sent us a file on disc to print, we printed it and sent it back and that was fine, perfect no problems!!!

Next we have uninstalled Wasatch, corel and photoshop and reinstalled. This has made no difference at all and we still have the problems.

We are tearing our hair out and can’t work out what it could be. Does anyone know what it could be?

    Thanks
    Chris

My first thought would be that if you have re-installed all programs and their colour management settings are ok, you should look at your system settings, maybe they are corrupt?? Maybe they are overriding the program settings. They would be the only thing that you have not updated by re-installing. I am a Mac user and deleting preference files has helped in the past with odd colour behaviour on screen.

I don’t know much about windows color management though!

not a mismatch of rgb and cmyk

    I was wondering that Chris.

This used to happen to me with exporting files done in cmyk and converting them to rgb when exported as eps, same with rgb to cmyk, so I eventually stuck to cmyk for vectors and left bitmaps as their native format.

Never had the problem with files going darker though, just with them looking muddy or washed out.

    Have you tried pdf files?

the other thing is as they say the images have altered over a period of time is the screen has been altered or fading and the brightness turned up.
the preview screen in wasatch is normally quiet accurate but the corel screen could be all over the place.
if you are running PS then run the screen calibration.
