Hello from Campbell River, British Columbia. My city is on Vancouver Island, about as far west as you can get in Canada. My business is called Periscope Promotions and I specialize mostly in promotional advertising products, dye sublimation and some use of a Roland PC600 printer/cutter which I have owned for about six years. I use it more for heat seal lettering on felt banners. As you may guess, I served for 30 years in the Canadian Navy, many of those in submarines looking through periscopes.

Hi welcome to the boards, was wondering about your company name before I read the bit about you spending time in the Canadian Navy. I spent 20 years in the Royal Navy as an engineer and some of that time was spent maintaining and operating those periscopes but on slightly larger submarines than you served on :lol1:

I should have mentioned that I was on loan to the Royal Navy in submarines for ten years. Served on an "S", 2 "O"s and 2 "A" boats before returning to Canada. This was way back 1958 – 68.

Must have been one of the first "S" boats, can’t think what "S" boats were knocking about towards the end of the sixties but there couldn’t have been many.

I get seasick in a bath tub, can’t imagine what I’d be like bobbing around in a sub..

If any of my mates want some burly, ….. I’m their man :vomit: 😳

Welcome to the boards tho buddy 😉

The "S" boat was HMS Sea Scout. WWII built. I served on her in Portland 1958-59.

Shane, I easily get seasick too which is why I take showers :lol1: 🙄

Actually a sub might be OK though, as long as it stayed under where there’s no wave motion.

:lol1: :lol1: I’ll survive Bill…. In all seriousness, my daughter is pretty crook tho, may be a trip to the hospital in the early hours I suspect. Will wait and see if her fever gets any better in the next few hours.

Sorry to hijack the thread Ed, they are real nutters around these parts… except me of course, I’m one of the few sane ones here

Shane, you forgot to add "honestly" at the end of your last sentence :lol1:

Hope your girl’s OK, I hear there’s a few nasty bugs doing the rounds.

Sorry for hijacking your thread Ed, or would that be called pirating in ex-navy lingo? 😀

5 children and one adult die this month from the flu, the worst flu in 60 years. Schools ask not to send children if the have a cold, talking about mandating face masks when meeting in public places. Even handing out hand wash at the ekka this year as you enter the gates. Wonder if it will help. I doubt it….

I had all my appointments canceled last friday because everyone I was booked to see had called in sick.

Hi and welcome to the boards……..

I used to have a sign company based in North Van and often wondered how many sign companies there were on The Island after seeing how big Naniamo was.

We went across from Horseshoe Bay once and got as far as this forest full of the biggest trees I had ever seen in my life (heading towards Tofino) can’t remember the name of the place but there were plenty of tourist there.

Great place to live – wish I was there too!

    😀
