Hello everyone here on uksignboards.com. My name is Andy Spottswood, and I am from Kansas City, Missouri in the USA. I have been in the digital large-format printing industry for 15 years. I am well versed on a multitude of modern equipment, from solvent to UV to HP Latex and beyond. I manage a commercial printing company now. Our focus is banners, grocery store and retail signage, and custom displays. We use two industrial HP Latex printers, two high speed Fujifilm UV flatbed printers, two Kongsberg XP flatbed finishing tables and two Ledco laminators. It seems as though we are getting new toys all the time. I feel like it would be a good mix for me to be able to give my input to people overseas, and in turn I feel there is an abundance I can learn from you. I have intimate knowledge of all the mentioned systems, as well as Mimaki cutters, L25500 and L26500 printers, Onyx ProductionHouse, and more recently ColorGate Production Server. I use Adobe Creative Suite and now Cloud everyday. We’ve had on our hands on a lot of good tech over the years, and it has primarily been my job to decode most. Recently, I’ve decided to setup a small shop in my basement, so I can create some vinyl signage, stickers and small prints. I’m using an L25500, that I purchased from the owner of my 9 to 5. To kick it up a little, I bought a used SummaCut D120se for contour cuts. There is not a lot of info about Summa cutters here in the states outside of the internet, although they seem basic in operation. I will likely have mechanical questions about it though. I will also be getting a little laminator to protect the decals I want to make and sell. Hopefully, with my experience and the experience of others here we can help each other grow (I have a long way to go per the basement shop:)
