Hi all, its only taken me a year but finally submitting my first post on the forum. I run a small family business with my son and the largest percentage of our work is carried out with vinyls. We have found the site the most informative educational tool since we began our business all those years ago, and like everyone else we are still learning everyday. We have recently won a contract for a large amount of vehicles, which should of course be good news however the problem we have is with the new Renault kangoo vans which have a horrible curved surface on the back doors, which we need to floodcoat. After several stressful attempts we are still not happy with the outcome of the back of the vans and are looking for advice on how to go about applying to curved surfaces with large decals(i.e. with or without application tape, use of heat gun, better grade of vinyl?). We currently use Oracol 751 cast. Any advice would be much appreciated.p.s. will be uploading photo soon.
    Thanks
    Ann 😀

hello Ann welcome 😀 you will find you get more response to your questions if you ask in the relevant forum, personally I like oracle 751 but for the deep recesses on a kangoo I would say it’s not the vinyl to use, it’s ok on gentle recesses and flat.

Hi Ann welcome to the forum, as Lynn has suggested you would be better asking questions in the relevant forum rather than the say hello section.
Is it a colour change on the back doors and then graphics over the top?

Can’t remember just how bad the recess’s are on the new Kangoo. If 751C won’t do the job then possibly a wrap vinyl may be required but even they have limitations.

Hi Martin, yes it is a colour change on sides and back door with text on top. It isn’t as much the recesses that are causing the problems, it is the uneven curved surface. The vinyl is is crinkling up at certain points and will not push out without leaving creases and bubbles. As we have a lot of vans to do and are trying to be as cost effective as possible for the costomer we thought cast vinyl was the way to go.

What sort of conditions are you fitting under, do you have a unit which is heated? Are you using heat to apply the vinyl ? 751 should be able to cope with what you have described with little trouble.

Our unit is well heated and I am sure this is not the problem.we have not yet tried to apply the vinyl with heat, would this be a good place to start?would you advise on using application tape with the vinyl?sorry these questions mat seem fairly simple but even though we have had plenty of experience with fitting vinyls we have not often came across this type of problem.
