    Hi everyone,

Thought I best say hi as I have been tip hunting for some time now!

I am a newby to the trade in Devon. I bought a cutter 6 months ago as we couldn’t find anyone reliable to do our signs for my boyfriends business (sorry anyone from around here!) and it took off! I’m now working from home most of the time – ideal!

Just to pick all your brains – does anyone know of a supplier of magnetic vinyl larger than 620mm wide? Or can it be easily fitted together? I have a customer with a very large truck! – compensating?!?! 😉

    Ta

    Hi Jenny!

    Welcome to the boards.

As for your query regarding magnetic vinyl, I think that is the only width it’s available in. But if i’m wrong someone here will soon correct me! 😉

Hi Jenny and welcome as regards to magnetic as far as I know that is the widest, and and unless the truck is static i.e doesn’t go o n the road you really don’t want magnetics that big.

Re: Magnetic – the largest I’ve seen for sale is 620mm.

Also, if you do, buy the ‘good’ stuff – usually 0.85mm.

I do some vehicle magnetics but never guarantee them to stay on!! A lot of people apply them incorrectly & the leading edge lifts. (It’s usually safe around town 30mph ish), so there’s no way I’ll put my money where there application error lies.

Handy hint. When you’ve made your ‘magnetics’, radius the corners (scalpel & 2p coin) as this help prevent curling/lifting – and also makes them look more expensive!

Is this for the truck cab, or the sides of a box truck (these are frequently just aluminium).

For what it’s worth, I’d personally try to get them to take vinyl applied direct to the truck. Probably be more profit in it for you anyway!

hi there… welcome to the boards! 😀

feel free to join in gabbing with the rest of us 😉

regardsing magnetic panels. i agree, 24 inch is widest i know of. that said, i also wouldnt sell anyone anything bigger. mag panel (when off the vehicle) must be treated with care or it will form lumps and bulges preventing it staying flat the next time it is used. as much as the customer will say "yeh ill take care of it, roll it up and keep clean" they dont! but they WILL turn up to say "your panel has come off, i want another FOC" 😕
If they insist, sell it in tiles. it will be easier for them to fit, remove and store.

    Welcome to the site Jenny.

We buy 1m wide stuff here .9mm but at that size it is not easy to get straight. I do buses here and it works well, but not cheap either.

Any reason he does not want it direct applied?

Other thing you could do is apply it to fourex and stick with vhb double sided tape or industrial 3M velcro

    Hi Jenny 😀

Welcome to the boards. Great to see you posting and no longer lurking 😉

If you have a piccie to load to that would be great? …. so much better to see a peep than looking at a white box!

    Thanks everyone!

Cheers for the advice too. I think I best break the news to him. He doesn’t want permanent lettering for personal reasons! (sounds a bit dodgy to me!) 😕

I’ll offer him tiling but i think I might lose that one to someone who’s prepared to put their business on the line! Hey ho! Can’t win em all!

How do I put a picky on then?

    :thanks2: Jenny
