Bie goed dankie, ek woon in Paarl vir 5 jaar en de Kaap vir 8 jaar. Ek kom on verkansie en bly 13 jaar 😎 My Afrikaans is nie so goed nie but I try! 😀

I also found that the sign companies in SA do not like sharing ideas, I once went to Romano Signs in Cape Town for some “friendly advice” and was met with a very cold reception. On the other side we were very friendly with Contra Signs and used to sub vinyl work to them when the computer age first reared its head way back in about 1990

Rodney are Contra Signs still going, they were in Paarden Eiland if they are could you find 2 minutes to pop in and say Hi to Hennie and his Mrs if they are still there and give them my regards, tell them Mike from Mallard Signs is thinking about them.

Hiya , contra signs (now called Kontra signs) is still around , they specialize in off the shelf screen printed safety signs as far as I know , I think they were bought over by a chap called Mike Cream?
Romano are still going , in fact they sub out work to us for large metal letters over 1m etc.
Yep – everyone is secretive here – but with the internet age , their “secrets” are readily available.
General signage here is way overtraded , one has to specialize or find a niche market – everyone is chasing the same piece of pie.
digital printing in particular is really bad in this regard , cut throat stuff and some guys have to keep machines running 18 hrs a day to just break even.
I don’t compete on price – when I get “blackmailed” by a client (I can get it cheaper down the road) I tell them very politely that I can’t possible match that and it’s a great price they getting , so go for it
Then wait to get the job at my price when the “hacker” down the road messes up 😉

Rodney, sorry my spelling mistake on “Kontra”

I know Mike Crean (note spelling) well. He used to have a place in sea point or Green Point called Compusigns, can’t remember names so well after so long 🙄 . He was always saying he was selling up as it was doing his head in??? 😆 He used to do our engraving stuff for us. So if Hennie is no longer there still pop in and say hi to Mike, I am sure he will still remember me.

    Its a small world.
