• Heat proof tape

Usually I use the 33m rolls of heat proof tape to tape up my mugs, costs about a fiver a roll plus postage etc.
I hadn’t any in and had some mugs to do, I now use masking tape at 60p per roll
It leaves no residue after 4 minutes in a press and works perfectly.
just thought I would share this in case anyone had ever considered using it but not bothered due to worries about it melting or burning.
    It doesn’t 😀

I used to use masking tape when I did mugs.

Powder coaters use it all the time to mask holes/threads etc. Similar temperatures to sub mug presses but usually longer times!

No guys no kidding, couldnt believe it when I tried it, the worst that happens is you have to juust wipe a bit of adhesive off the mug occasionally.
no more expensive heat tape, now Ill try it on some T shirts, only a 10 second press with less heat, that should be fine too eh.

Hi guys, use an automotive grade masking tape and you should have no worries, Its designed to be in heat booths for extended periods of time, and the glue will not be an issue.

I use automotive grade for everything now.
