Guns vary greatly. Most are cheap built rebrands. However, guns tend to last longer when treated correct.
If guns are left on burning constant then the elements will go much faster. Bangs, drops etc can cause further internal damage. My current gun cost about £100 and lasted about a month in the hands of one of my staff who was borrowing it constantly. But my last one lasted about two year which was locked on my fitting box and only I used it.
You need to be looking at a gun £30+ for any sort of life from them. -
I heard B&Q Sell one with a 2 year warranty. Apparently once it burns out you just take it back in and they give you a brand new one no questions asked.
To be fair many years ago when I worked in Homebase this is how I used to sell lawnmowers for them. Used to tell people just to push it down a large hill at 1 year 9 months and they would get a new one. “Your not just buying a lawn more today sir, your buying one for life” 😉

I use a Steinel programmable heat gun – useful to change airflow as well as heat. Doesn’t get heavy use but invaluable when needed. Still going strong after many years but not been dropped or kicked about! 🙂

Ive got a Ryobi. Its been good in the 2 years ive had it, its even passed a few " fall from a ladder tests" which is normally the death of them.

Stax own brand (Supa Dec i think). £10 each from memory, two settings, hot and hotter.
We’ve a few and have lasted a year easily.

£40 sealey bought from signgeer, always been very happy with these

The one we use are from screw fix and we’re only about £20 each I think they are Titan had them a few years now with no problems. At that price it doesn’t matter if they do get dropped by accident.

Cheers for all the info. I think a cheaper brand one will do as it does get a lot of abuse from us [emoji85][emoji85] thanks

Yup, we have 2 Steinel’s – the extra long leads are a big bonus too.

The clip on sensor would be a great addition as when using with hand held temp sensor often feel like you need three hands!
A big +1 for the long lead! -
BOSCH hg 600-3 got 2 of them and had them for 8 years with no probs at all
