has the capping stations or pump gone on cadet?
Posted by George Elsmore on April 30, 2007 at 12:59 pmHi All, did a test print this morning and the yellow was not right. I did another powerful clean and still not right. I decided to lift the capping station and draw in through the pump with a syringe which worked test print was fine, decided to do another head clean and out of curiosity watched to see if waste ink was being discharged to waste bottle and nothing? question is has the pump give up the ghost or is the seal on the capping station failing……any ideas anyone please.
Cheers
G
thinking about it there was no waste ink coming through either the black cyan tube or the magenta yellow tube into the waste bottle???

pump, almost definitely 🙁 replacing the caps would be cheaper and easier tho
-
my opinion to Shane luckily its the cheap component in all this so may buy one just to check my theory
-
hi george make sure the waste tubes arent blocked
😮
if it is the pump easy to replace i got the old pump and replaced the tubing so i have an emergency spare. kind engineer gave me some tubing.
if your on full solvent its probably the tubes distorting in the pump.
i would change the capping stations as well if they are getting on a bit.Derek

changed caps about year ago checked there are no blockages
will replace and let you know 😕

Why the greasing of the pumps tho guys? never done it, never told to do it, see no reason to do it 😮

And the next pump failure goes to Shane Drew in Aus :lol1:
There are two little holes on the pump housing for lubrication of the gears.
You wouldn’t run your car without oil now would you Shane 😕Dave

Seriously dave… even my techs that service the machine have never greased anything… I watch everything they do, mainly coz I’m busy talking them into the ground 🙂 while they work..
They did tell me they import a clear tube from Germany that only has to be packed with grease around the internal thingy when its first installed, but in 3 years I’ve never had anyone grease anything. Only been thru 2 pumps in 3 years. One last week, and the other about 18 months ago. Both were black pump too.
Had a senior tech and a newbie last week. They used my machine to teach the new guy the maintenance routine… greasing the pumps was not even mentioned…
Perhaps its the German piping?

Just out of interest guys how much is a pump for the cadet?
I had a sum blockage in the tubes and replaced the whole lot from the capping station to the waste bottle.
Just for peoples future reference you don’t have to buy a complete new pump, u can just replace the pipe inside it. Bit of a tedious job but a damn sight cheaper than a complete unit im guessing? Oh, and added a little bit of new grease Shane….!
All it is, is a cam system squashing the tube and forcing the air one way, not as technical as i imagined, unscrewed it all and was quite amazed at how primitive it actually was really.

pump is £37+vat from B&P
capping stations about £20 each
hardly going to break the bank

Had a new pump 3 months ago, first in 3 years!!! Because I greased it 🙄

you have got a thing about greasing it Dave must be your age 🙂
but you are correct
-
sorry mate, I’m not sold on the grease thing yet.
My first pump was faulty and replaced under warranty. This pump was, according to the tech, worn out..
I’ve got 3 pumps, on that rule, all three would have gone by now… The other two are fine. (touch wood)
…. if I go to work tomorrow and the other 2 don’t work… I’m blamin’ you :lol1:
I will ask the tech guys tomorrow, but i suspect they laugh at me… something about the poms having a lend of me…. Just because we won the world cup… in the dark…..

World Cup?????
World Non-Greasing Championships :lol1:
Worn Out means not greased 😕
-
Shane the pump came with a big syringe full of grease 😕
i guess to grease the pump 😀

well there ya go… our pumps come pre-greased… no extra grease supplied.
They must think we are not as clever as you guys :lol1: :lol1: Our pumps are much dearer than yours tho… Might be yours are chinese and ours are japanese or something 😉
