I understand the Uniform Cadet has now been dropped. It’s replacement is the Lancer which is 1300mm wide (i.e much wider than the Cadets 760mm).

Anyone know why it has been discontinued?

all good things come to an end, and they need to keep up with the times.
its replacement is probably better and cheaper…

But why so much wider? Surely there’s still a market for a 30" print and cut machine that runs with solvent ink?

I think its the way of the world Phil
I think mimaki have done the same with the jv33, no 760 model?

    i havent a clue, just guessing here…

Perhaps B&P no longer have the same deal with Roland?

Maybe Roland are discontinuing the narrow Versacamm, in turn, B&P must drop the Cadet?

The Lancer is a value-jet re-badged is it not? Maybe they have a better deal now with Motuh?

    as i said… I’m just guessing. 😀

No need for 760 machines now. The 54" Valuejet/Lancer is a similar price and the vinyl manufacturers don’t like making the smaller rolls.

My understanding of this situation is that from what I heard B&P where outselling Roland. This is not surprising as if you read through the boards alot of people on here prefer the Uniform version to the standard Roland, myself I own the Uniform Grenadier 1 otherwise known as Roland SollJet II pro 740, the big advantage of the Uniform machine is that you can chose your inks ie Uniform Activasol or Roland Ecosol Mx with no mods to machine just flush and change.
Because of this Roland took a dicission to stop suppling B&P with there printers, I belive the real reason is that as most of us understand the real value to suppliers of printers is the consumables not the hardware and Roland get nothing from Activasol etc etc, around the same time of pulling the plug on B&P they started doing great prices on conversion back to standared with warenty, i guess to try and get back some business via ink sales, the release of Rolands new Ecosol max probably played a big part in this as it is now belived by most to be very close to a full solvent.
So yes the Cadet is dead but then so is every converted Roland from B&P the versacamm is still going strong in both 54" and 30" I know nothing of any makers plans to drop 30" models but I know that B&P did a deal with Mutoh to rebadge and sell there printers under the Uniform brand name, the value jet has great reviews and is a good printer however I do not belive that the converstion is much more than cosmetic on the mutohs and think the relationship with Mutoh and Uniform suits Mutoh as it help restart there busines after the Rockhoppers which where never that populer.
The above is just my understanding of the situation so can not say 100% correct but i do not think far from truth.

    Best regards

    Russell.
