i have seen them gray… well not first hand. i actualy ordered some but they never came.. 😕
you have just reminded me to call them…

i use felt squeegees now 90%.. i do prefer them but they do run duff pretty quick..
i want to try the avery squeegee but im not convinced they are the most effective and cost effective tool to use. but i cant slate the product before i try… 😆
ill let you know my finds… 😉

i read that grafytp have brought out a new squeegee… i saw it in there magazine type of thing they send out. i have to say it looks crap. and i would bet not worth using. but again if anyone can tell me different ill eat my words and apologise here on the boards 😆
its a squeegee with a roller on the rear. anyone that uses rollers will know what i mean. you could not do large jobs and get the pressure right with this thing…
also it looks ver flimzy as a squeegee.. but hey… im speaking about it and slating it and ive only seen a picture.. sorry grafityp if this is the a good product.. 😉

We use the 3m gold squeeges. The best ever were the old 3m gold ones which had a slight mettalic finish to em , not the colour they are no.

The mettalic cloured ones just don’t wear out and any wear they do have is flat, WE have found the biggest problem is most squeeges wear out with a curved edge, which means you don;t get even pressurre.

The old 3m had a bitter taste, and were slightly poisonous, thats why they were taken out of production, and the ‘flat gold coloured’ ones were produced.

The new blue Avery ones are ok, we have been had a couple for a few months. The biggest problem is the felt material is glued on with WATER based adhesive, get it wet and the felt floats about till it drys out, and then it sticks back on!!!!

I havent seen or heard of any new squeegees from Avery Robert, whats so special about them?
I’ve seen the ones in the grafityp brochure though, must admit I had a little chuckle to myself when I saw them. Cant see them being that easy to use either, bit awkward to hold by the looks of them. I cant see me rushing out to buy some.

    nothing really martin…
i think they are creating a song and dance about this all new felt and plastic squeegee but like tim says hes already found a flaw….

i just like to try squeegees out as they are important to me when applying.. like anyone i guess thats into vinyl app!

ive tried the 3m gold and loads of others they dont work for me and grip is limited.. i feel anyway. i dont go for how long they last but that is pretty important..
spandex do a hard plastic one.. pretty flat.. that is my fav over all others but rubbish for conforming to body shape of vehicles..

    Horses for courses I guess….. 😆

We have bought 3M gold for years they scratch, and it shows more on darker colours but otherwise are good. We tried a light blue Avery squeegee a few years ago and found that did much less damage, but no one stocked it here.

WE have a few of the NEW Avery squeegees and they are fine look like a normal sqeegee, but one side is felt, we don’t have the problem with wetness affecting the glue as we don’t apply vinyl wet, Louis the guy that works for me uses it all the time now, we also bought Avery’s felt blocks.

I`ve tried the “new” squeegee from grafityp, don`t bother, ,save your money. It`s a wedge shaped, pretty stiff, with a vey cheep roller on the end.

On the subject of squeegees, I am after very cheep squeegees to give a way, to customers for DIY fits. I know most are only 75p – £1. But this one must only cost 25p max.

I have a sample of the ones I want, picked it up at “Sign UK” a couple of years ago, but forgotten who give them out. it`s white in colour, only has one edge, and about half the size of a “proper squeegee”

    Any one got any ideas.

Forgot to ask this other question.

The sqeegee I use. I use for every thing. Applying application paper, and tranfering to the substrate, then the felt squeegee comes out to play after the application paper has been removed.

How long a life has a squeegee?
Do you use one gradee to apply app paper (a very stiff one) 😳
And another to apply the graphic.

Which is the right way to go??

neil you can buy them at cox… but ide check the cos i bet they aint £1 😆 😆

becky we apply the tape to vinyl with a plastic applicating squeegee..

i, as i said, apply all with the felt one. well 90% anyway….
it doesnt last long but i dont mean it is done. a problem i find with the felt ones is the edge goes round quickly if you are doing a big job..
its no big deal, but does cost you in the long run if you have to keep using another. however because the felt ones are like a rectangular block you have 4 edges rather than two. so they go that bit further…
ive seen me work one day with a felt one then bin it.. its not done by anymeans.. but felt ones shouldnt really be used as much as i do… pressure is important and it is very hard to get the proper pressure with a felt squeegee.. even harder if its a bit worn, after using for a few hours the stiffness seems to go and thats not good..
i tend to cut into my vinyl in swipes up and down rather than pushing and dragging the air out. because of this i maybe getting away with a little more, i feel its a good way to apply dry.

    Becky,
These could have been from Autac UK.
I had some a while back, white shaped as you describe.
They come in packs of ten, and I too use them as giveaways when supplying graphics for self fit.

grey, we do’ny use the squeegy as a pacifier, just stick in our gobs when were up the steps, hanging on in the wind and try to peel off the backing!!!!

I think you may have forgotten what working in a in-clemant climate is like!!!!!!

We tried these news Avery squeeges and have got back to the old gold and felt. These blue ones fall apart (we do it wet) and can then damage the vinyl when the felt falls off.

Also the plastic seems to get damaged easily and ends up with sharp edges.

Back to the old for us.

We use both 3M Gold and the new Avery ones. Some of my boys prefer one and some the other.

I think personal preference plays a big part in this question.
