I’ve been looking at these due to space limitations and not too keen on a 2nd user machine.

    Any views, comments appreciated

There’s a roadshow going on during September but can’t remember the details or the venues. Maybe someone else on the forum has more details, might be worth going to one and having a look at the machine close up.

Martin there is one in Scotland soon, it’s on facebook, will try and dig out the link, Rethe , Bn 20, as my partner is into the garment side of things, it might be good investment for her business, but for sign making, no thanks, too small too and way too expensive.

I am sure I was reading a thread on here saying its quite slow. Isn’t the media width 500mm? I’ve never seen 500mm media- their excuse was its aimed at garment decoration market where 500mm is normal.

Think it may be missing white ink?

I may have seen one at sign and digital.

My mate has just ordered one from Xpress I think but not many in the country and he isn’t due to pick up his until early November. I will be looking at it with interest. Apparently essentially the same as bigger Roland stuff but smaller and with metallic ink option, don’t think it has white though. Not so much this machine is slow but more a case of the bigger machines being so fast nowadays.

We have supplied 3 x BN-20’s already so there is a market for this printer without a doubt, nice and easy to set up and use. The roadshow mentioned I would think is the PEA 6 show that is starting in Ireland and I believe will be in Scotland in 2 weeks or so.

I really fancy one to save on space, if it did white ink then it would be a true winner

Xpres can be bad for taking your money first then keeping you waiting until they can bulk order few in, you might find they are readily available from other suppliers 🙄

Nigel, yes it was the Pea6 roadshow, got an email sent to me about it a couple of weeks or so ago, just couldn’t remember who was organising it or where the venues were going to be 😳

Martin at the moment I know it will be held at one of the Best Western hotels in Edinburgh, check the PEA 6 website to see which one it is once confirmed.

After a few weeks of research it looks like the BN-20 is top of my shopping list.
    So where to buy one?
I have spoken to a few companies some claim to have stock some say that the first shipment is due shortly.
    Any recommendations?

Jason I cannot speak for other Roland dealers but I can tell you we are taking orders for our November stock as all stock before then is sold. The BN-20 does seem to be a major hit and has took suppliers by surprise a little bit.

    I am not surprised mate….

as mentioned in a post when the machine was launched back at the start of July…

    quote Robert Lambie:

I also agree with allot of what Rodney Gold has said…
but i cannot help but still think this machine will be snapped up by the small sign shops, print shops and folk dipping their toe into digital printing, with the prospect of upgrading 6-12 months down the line to versacamm or the like.

the machine as you see it, packs allot in one desktop printer. metalic inks, contour cutting, vinyl cutting, t-shirt printing and more… it IS and will be seen for what it is capable of and that for a small sign shop, one man band, is everything!
I have never saw it running nor actually focused on the print speed until folk replied here. but still… the old pc600 served many sign businesses way back in the day, much stiffer opposition now granted, everyone wants everything yesterday. but for the guy doing a few vans a week to now be able to print full colour graphics in house and contour cut, its a big plus.

i think “we” as experienced sign makers are looking at the machine more with our own eyes / knowledge than the would be buyer. hell you only have to see how many chinese cutters are sold on ebay to know folk think more from their wallet than their brain. the set-backs like slow printing speed and the like are quickly shoved to the back of the issues list, when the thoughts of “what it can do” are considered. and who could blame them really.

Don’t get me wrong here. if i was asked what someone should buy to get into the vinyl printing game ide say buy the versacamm with the prospect to upgrade. but i cant help but think these smaller machines are going to start appearing all over the place.

    .

Jason, if you get a chance mate, it would be great if you could give feedback on this machine once it arrives, out the box and you have had a play…
