  • Has anyone paid Robert Horne by credit card this month?

Posted by Steve McAdie on August 4, 2010 at 3:55 pm

I’m interested to see if anyone has paid for goods this month from Robert Horne by credit card as I have been told that they no longer accept them.
Just want to confirm this is the case or if it just my experience.

Funny this, spoke to them today Vic in accounts and asked why when I have always paid by card that I have an outstanding balance to be told no you have a credit account!!
So it turns out some do take my card details and use them , some dont and some put some of the invoice total through and some just put it on my account that I never asked for, anyway to the point I have been told from now on a note will be on the screen asking for payment from my card, so not sure if one hand know what the other is doing.!!!

Rob to be honest mate I really cant get to the bottom of the complete Robert Horn thing filled out all the forms, but still not shown as UKSB member
I get good prices but I really dont know how well against the UKSB Prices as I dont have a current list to compare. I dont have the time anymore to keep asking and trying to get to the bottom of it mate

I don’t blame you mate, got tired of it too myself.

Yes i accept they are a huge company now, many many new staff finding their feet and a brand new system for them all to get familure with, along with teething problems in stock control etc etc but like you, my spend with them went to a minimum until just recently when i have started buying again…

the sad thing about their whole company merger is that they have an excellent list of products and nobody more capable of catoring for us as a group as they are. But still… we all have businesses to run whilst they get their act in gear.

The UKSG section will re-open with only several new suppliers listed…
it will then be followed by one to two new suppliers per week till i have them all 100%. theres about 14 total from memory…
I had no intention on listing only a few, but everyone here is suffering as a reslt so i have no option.

anyway… not wanting to drag this off topic. ill let everyone know whats what as soon as i do.
    😀

I’ve not ahd any trouble recently but, my spend has dropped quite a bit recently and i’m not using any suppliers that much at the mo (moving house, single dad/summer hols, generally quieter than normal etc etc etc).

took my card (debit) with no probs last week and the goods arrived the next day as planned, occasionally stock is short so instead of 5m of 610 wide i have to buy 2 or 3m of 1260 wide and cut it myself, bit of a pain if i only want a couple of meters as i’m then left with two small quantities and not one,

    otherwise they’ve been ok lately.

biggest problem for me was last july / august and through to nov/dec if i recall, they were taking orders and card details but, not running the details through and taking payment, thus leaving me with a big bill and stopped account when it hit 90 days and they’d not received any payments, instead of paying as I go I ended up with several bills totalling over £900 if i recall, i eventually paid that off after a lot of arguing (not a case of not having money but on principle).

They then did it again early in the year, telling me I owed more when others had said it was cleared months ago, in the end they wiped off the £70 odd they claimed hadn’t been paid for. prob something to do with me saying i’m never gonna use em again!

anyways, as I say, seems to be ok now,

    Rob,
didn’t realise there was a central UKSG office to call, been using my local (Bristol?) branch i think, been ok and seemed to know what UKSG is.

it’s a big pain in the backside, dunno about a mix-up. I have to admit that i’m not the best when it comes to keeping track of my bank account, i check it each day now but never used to. Because I would always pay as i go with all the suppliers i deal with, one would naturally assume that come saturday, whatever funds were left in the bank were fair game with regards how good the weekend was gonna be! OK, not strictly like that but you know where i’m coming from! to suddenly find that you owe a big chunk of cash you thought you’d already paid was a litle bit chit!

Rob can you post the central number as not sure if i’m using the right one. I will try again then, it just seems so hard to get any materials from them at the moment. Tried to order banner material last time they hadn’t any in stock the next shipment was already reserved to customers and I couldn’t order any from the shipment after that, that was for a job for a very large international company then all this business with the credit card coupled to what sounded like a bull**** reason as to why they aren’t taking cards (stolen credit cards being used). Can you really see a thief who has just nicked a card phoning up to order a couple of rolls of vinyl and a roll of banner material and have it delivered to the card holders address.

Don’t know anything about the credit card thing but Hugh there is no way you should be slitting rolls yourself, if they don’t have the width you order it should be slit by them and supplied to you. Yes you may have to have 2 rolls if it’s a small order but slitting it yourself is a joke and if I found myslef doing that, I’d be finding a new supplier.

to be fair it’s usually down to wanting odd colours and normally only when i’m ordering the more expensive 851 or 951 oracles, i’ve got quite good at slitting now, just me, a ruler, some masking tape and my 25yrs old B&D jigsaw!

I admit i shouldn’t do it but on the odd occasion I can live with it,

Just phoned in an order this morning……had a call back to say I had an outstanding balance from May……I don’t have an account and pay by debit card as I order……according to them they ‘forgot’ to charge my debit card for an order in May….been ordering every couple of weeks since and only now have they picked it up!

Their organisation seems to have gone seriously downhill.
