  • Hanging strips for framed composite panels?

Posted by Jonathan Dray on October 1, 2020 at 10:19 am

    Hi,

We’ve got a reasonable size framed sign to produce (12M x 1M). The client has asked for a Unitrim type sign frame with ACM panels. Would you guys bother with hanging strips on the panels for something like this? Obviously with Foamex panels the strips are needed to allow for expansion but with ACM?

If so, 5mm Foamex for the hanging strips? And VHB to attach them?

    Thanks.

We build our trim frames prior to installing.

It means we simply fit the sign frame to the wall. slide the composite panel in. rivet on the end piece and leave.

I do not ever fit hanging strips on composite.

The only time I would consider a hanging strip would be if I had to front-load the sign due to restrictions on the left and right of the sign that would prohibit sliding in from the sides.
