    Hi all,
Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.
    I have a request for a hanging sign made from 5mm clear acrylic, size 3050mm x 2000mm
What would be the safest way to suspend a heavy sheet like this?
    Thanks
    Paul.

    Hi

That would need some fairly sturdy frame to contain the sheet and from which to suspend it.

But I really think that is far too large to be a suspended sign – too many hazards I think, best to look at some alternative – banners / mesh etc.

Perhaps some more info on where it is going and from what it is to be suspended from – maybe a possibility if inside.

    Cheers
    Macky

has your client had this done before?
it’s not impossible, but would need thinking about.
I would be looking at some form of edge grippers, or at least 6 holes drilled along the top edge to take the weight, and using small d shackles and cable to suspend, each "hole" would then not be stressed to much, and you would need to share the load equally between the points by using a continuous cable, threaded to points above, a bit like a corset or shoe lace, if you can visualise what I mean?

im with peter on this one…

the thing with acrylic is it becomes brittle and if your only fixing along the top edge you run the risk of it falling…

at what height is this to be mounted ??
