Nice one Jilly. Love the colour combinations.

How long does a sign like that take? I assume you have to wait for sections to dry before you can do the next bit?

    😳 Gee thanx folks.
Lynn, it’s all paint, I just used a darker tone to make a faux shadow.
I think I put about 8 total hours into it over 2 days.
Andy, you’re right, you do have to wait for paint to dry before you can proceed to other parts.
The GOLF and the arrow were painted using a mask….I roller-blended the golf part.
The rest was painted using a pounce pattern.
Here is the pictorial. (their existing but beefed up) I blended the trees with a sea sponge.

oh Jeeze what a difference between the two huh
    Great work Jill!
Did you have any trouble with the 1shot in this weather (assuming it’s humid near you as well)…how much longer does it take to dry?
How many base coats did you use…..looks like really good coverage

Sorry apparently I can’t edit my post – edit button missing

    one more question 😳
is your background color 1shot dark green straight out of the can or another color?
I like the richness of it

Leigh, I used regular dark green 1-S straight from the can.
They had supplied the wood, primered (poorly) which I sanded and gave 2 coats of 1-S to.
It does take at least a full day to dry here and at least a day in between initial coats. I added a smidgen of 1-S lo-temp reducer to the background coat.
All the other lettering was single coated, and there is also some Ronan paint in there.
I have been having long dry times lately, I don’t think it is the weather as much as it is that the 1-S formula has changed drastically in the 20 years I’ve been using it. Of course if it was summer, the paint would have dried faster!
    Thanks for the nice words.
    Love…..Jill
    PS
I had plenty of time waiting for the background to dry (6 weeks) before the client made up their mind about the design.

That’s really beautiful Jill. Do you ever paint anything other than signs, for example with oils or acrylics onto canvas? Looks like you’re a talented artist.

    Thanks Marcella.
Actually, I never liked to paint pictures, altho I do enjoy a pictorial on a sign (particularly of a person)
I was always a pen and pencil artist, then progressed to pen and ink during art school.
    My specialty was people.
But I have not drawn a real picture in over 25 years.
Art school and having kids burned it right out of me.
Last Christmas, Santa brought me a tablet and some good black pencils.
I tried drawing Robert Smith form the Cure just for starters.
Got as far as his left eye and realized my inner artist is hibernating.
Maybe I needed a different subject?
    Love…..Jill 😉

Robert Smith from the Cure is a great subject! You wouldn’t need to be neat with his lipstick anyway!!! 😀

Turned out great Jill! I reallly like that natural shadow, it looks sooo real.
Jill, that artist is still in there!
I’ve always stared in awe at the way you can look at a picture and just paint it. I mean I’d have to sketch it out do some erasing and tweaking then paint it in. You have a great talent for this and always love to see you do it.

Talk about apple carts and upsetting them…..
The sign is gorgeous Jill. but, an’ its only my opinion, I’m probably wrong.. but, just a tiny crit…, cos you dont like people just saying “thats brill, Jill” Which it is.
I think the picture is a tad small, for my old eyes anyway…

    Love
