So we’ve had the Caddy for well over a year, and it hasn’t been sign written.

In between other jobs, we’ve finally managed to get it almost finished (just the back doors to wrap)

We used Metamark Series 7 vinyl underneath the wrap to create the 3d effect, and then it’s 3M’s metallic matt blue 1080 over the top, and the white detail is Metamark series 7 on the paintwork and I just used some 3m IJ180 for the side’s to go over the 1080 to conform to the 3d lettering.

Hopefully you can see the effect on the pics.

excellent David, great to see a bit of "thinking outside the box" mate.
clean, subtle design and effect… but plenty to get your customers thinking when they see it.

thanks for taking the time to upload your work!

Looks good David, tried that sort of idea many years ago but had lots of problems with bubbles. Mind you that was a long time before the days of wrap & air release vinyl.

Did you have any problems with bubbles in the centre of letters at all?

    Cheers guys.

I’ve had a printer I do work for suggest highlighting some of the words under the vinyl in silver, but I prefer making the customer ‘read’ it and really take it in.

Martin there’s no problem with the lettering underneath as it is an air release vinyl, so managed to get most of it out.

There’s some air left around the edges, I didn’t go mad post heating over the lettering for fear of it blistering. It creates a nice soft edge.

Just got the back doors to wrap… but we’re so busy at the moment that can wait!

Rob Thanks for the wrap course, as that’s where I think the original idea came from… i’ve had the idea for ages, just never actually done anything with it!

love that idea Richard, beat me to it by a long way!! I saw a similar thing at the FESPA show, I forget which company it was but they were wrapping a vw transporter in a suede effect wrap and had their logo underneath to gve an effect much like you have done – though I never got beyong the "I’d like to do something like that" stage! good on ya for doing it so effectively!

really really like the whole thing, very clean and smart!

Very deceptive Jill! A lot of hours have gone into this.

Hard to tell as we’ve done it between other jobs, but its very labour intensive.

Easy enough to work out David, just make a note of all the time you think you spent on it & add it up. Multiply that number by ten & you should be close to the hours you actually did spend on it :lol1: :lol1: :lol1:
