Had a bit of bad luck
Thursday last week some b**tard broke into my work ute and stole all of my tools. I spent two days going through a list of things that were nicked and the total came out at just over 8 Grand.
Thank goodness I have a great insurance broker and was insured for much more than was nicked.
Two days of stress and embuggerences to prove I owned all the tools taken. Then out on Monday morning to spend $4 grand on some nice new shiny tools (got to look for the silver lining hey?).
Why do scum not realise that if you nick a tradesmans tools then his family (and in my case employees) can’t eat until he can install and make signs again?
Lessons learn’t…
1. Don’t rely on the apprentice to bring in the vehicle at the end of the day to the workshop.
2. Have photos of all tools and workshop stuff to prove you own them.
3. Have a really good Insurance Broker.
4. Keep all receipts and invoices for tools.
5. Keep a list of things to be kept in the Ute/van – I’m still going to get tools and finding they’re nicked.
6. Beat apprentice more 😉
