• GSX Plus plotter help

Posted by Lorraine Buchan on April 1, 2004 at 9:29 am

Ok i’m trying to run the gerber from flexisign 6.6V1

I can print no problem, i can put a contour line around the image, but i can’t get it to cut on the plotter, we have the GSX Plus.

In production manager, there are options for the:
    GS15
    GS15 Plus
    GS750
    GS750 Plus
    GSX15
    GSX15 Plus

But not for the GSX Plus, So using my common sense I though it’s a 15″ plotter so it must be the GSX15 Plus

But it doesn’t seam to work i have no option to send only the option to save to file of hold in list.

    Anyone got any ideas??

From what i can make out gsx plus has (apparently!) interpreters for omega(gsp) and hpgl for other leading signmaking packages, so maybe it would be worth installing as HPGL 15 and giving that a try – is this the first time you have used the plotter or did it just stop working?

It’s the first time running from Flexi sign, we have omega that we normally use but i can’t get the hang of it – proberbly becuase i don’t get a chance to use it, so i thought i’d see if i could run run it from flexi as i know how to use flexi

    Lorraine,

Here is something that MAY help you with Flexi and the GSX plus plotter.

    I use the GSX15plus setting.

Here’s something else I am copy / pasting from another board:

    Gerber GSX plotter–Fifo buffer
Hope you are well. The most likely cause for the problem is the FIFO buffer setting on the com port. To fix, proceed as follows:
    – go into the Control Panel >> Device Manager >> Ports area (the exact method of getting to the Ports settings will vary depending on your operating system)
    – bring up the port settings for whatever com port you have the plotter connected to
    – in the Advanced area, you will see a reference to FIFO buffer (First In First Out)
    – DISable the FIFO buffer (there will be a checkbox that will allow you to do this)

Flexi plotting to GSX plus -FIFO fix

    – “Apply” and/or “OK” your way back out to the desktop
    – Go into your Signlab program and try plotting again; it should now plot correctly with no errors. (works with Flexi, too)

    Thanks for the info Elo’

I can’t seem to do what is suggested, as there isn’t an advanced area.

But along these lines, i’m using the LPT1 printer port and it is listed as “ECP printer port” would this be causing a problem?

    Lorraine,

I don’t know what to tell you. Here in the USA we run Gerber Plotters off of our COM ports –COM 1. The Gerber Edge runs off LPT 1 — which is an ECP port if it is an Edge 2.

In the instructions about FIFO — it was referring to a COM port.

Good luck with this. With Omega, just export from Flexi as a GAD or AI file. Assign cut lines and send it away!

Omega in the USA will not recognize any LPT connected plotters–like my Graphtec –only COM port plotters. Go figure!
