• Graphtec Head loose!

Posted by Dave Bruce on February 15, 2009 at 5:41 pm

I have just purchased a second user Graphtec CE5000-60 and the cutting head floats on the carriage! Is this normal? My Roland head is solid on the carriage as you would expect, but when the Graphtec cuts the force down is causing the head to move up, difficult to explain, sorry.

Anyway is your Graphtec head loose, can you hold it and move it up down and side to side a good few mils?

    Cheers

    Hi dave

i have a graphtec sign jet pro which justs gets used for cutting now, its head comes loose from time to time, the problem i have is one of the rollers that holds the carriage on its track becomes bent.
if you look at the head from the front it is in the top left corner and is a little wheel on a very light aluminum tab that should run on the main rail, if it is not, i find a very firm push with your thumb is enough to bend it back against the rail. works for me 😀

i know when it is doing it as small text comes out with very unstraight lines!

hope that helps and make sence

Hi Paul, thanks for that, I had a look but my wheels seem to be mounted on a thick aluminium lug, quite sturdy. There are some file marks on the aluminium frame, so I think someone has been tampering!

Just phoned Graphtec and they diagnosed the problem. The head had been knocked out and the plate holding the top two rollers had moved, undid the screws and it sprung back into place 😀

    Cheers
