  • Graphtec FC4100-130 : Where to get blades

Posted by Adrian Neill on January 6, 2010 at 10:28 am

Good morning, I hope you’re all not snowed in !!

We’ve got a Graphtec FC4100-130 and i’d like to get some new contour blades.
Does anyone know what blades I need and a good place to get them from ?
I only need some standard 45 degree vinyl cutting blades.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Dave Standen at PrintOne for blades.

I know Harry knows his blades etc and is reputable, not knocking him or the firm at all… but i honestly cant be doing with the faffing around returning blades in jiffy bags before i get my new ones…
not knocking it, just not for me, and i did try it over a period of about 12-16 months…
we are talking about a product that costs about £8 new, something that can lasts months at a time… when its done, bin it and stick in another.

I’m going through a blade a week roughly with some of the garment material that i’m using

I’ll give them a phone right now cos i’m out of blades and the one i’m using is dull as hell

John, you must be putting the blade in upside down mate! 😮 :lol1:
    Roughly a week??? 😕

seriously though, Our cutting machines work non-stop, we go through allot of cut vinyl in a single week…
we do have a separate blade for cutting reflective vinyls (because you should do) but i know for a fact our guys do not change over blades every time they cut reflective, and reflective vinyl WILL wear blades down more than any other because it containes glass beads to create the light shimmer, which in turn quickly blunts the blade. STILL… we seldom need to change our blades.

garment vinyls are very soft in comparison to sign making vinyls, ide not imagine them doing much if any damage to a blade mate.

yeah most garment vinyls are soft but some are quiet rough and textured plus it’s small designs

Also using it for thick rubber stencil

And no it’s not upside down 😉

give the blade holder a really good clean out often gives the same symptoms as a dead blade.

nothing wrong with my febay ones can’t fault them.

I use compressed air to clean mine out sometimes and it’s still the same

compressed air is fine, but also give a good clean/wipe. drip little amounts of wd40 or the like down the barrel to allow the blade to spin free.
this is something matthias claim their blades last/work better because their blades are sealed in the unit. as a result you need to send them back complete to be resharpened.

eBay Chris! how dare you use such language on UKSB. shame on you… :lol1:

RHG sell cutters, so ide "guess" they would sell Blades. but… It may only be for their line of cutters, one being Roland, which Europoint did before the merge. not sure what cutters RHG did before that.
