Graphtec CE2000-120 / Signlab
Posted by James McHugh on May 17, 2013 at 11:09 amWe have a Graphtec CE5000-60 Plotter and have recently bought a Graphtec CE2000-120 Plotter second hand.
Having difficulty getting it to cut in Signlab 8 though.
I have installed relevant drivers but no joy.
It is connected with a serial cable as there is no usb connection on cutter. When I hit cut this message appears:
"Error setting com state COM1:9600,N,8,1. on line 2544."Anyone got any ideas ?

Sounds like there’s nothing connected to COM1 or it can’t ‘see’ the port, or maybe it’s already in use. If you have more than one COM/serial port, perhaps you have it connected to the wrong one? Is there already something else (mouse/pen) attached to COM1. If you have it connected to another serial port, try the other one or try changing the output config to COM2.

Hi Neil.
Thanks for your reply.
Only is one serial port and so it is the only one connected ?
Even tried a different cable incase it was knackered but still no joy. -
are you getting the same error cutting to both , or just one of them

The 5000 works by USB fine.
Could be the cable, but maybe more likely the com port config. Do you have another serial cable working with another device? Try that one. Other than that you could try removing the com port in device manager (assuming this is Windows?) – then restart the machine and it should reinstall the com port. Try it again following the restart. There’s always the possibility the port on the plotter is shot of course !?

What is the production date of your Signlab 8 in Help /About Signlab.
I can install that version, and i have a ce1000 i can hook up and try here.
I do most of the plotter driver work at cadlink. You can find out if its the ce2000s port by trying to cut to the ce5000 via that serial cable. If it cuts, the computers port and the cable are good.

Thanks, will give that a try later once I have cut the days jobs.
It is Signlab Version 8.0 Revision 1.
Production Date – July 6 2010. -
Tried cutting with the ce5000 via that serial cable and the same message came up ?
