don`t know much about computers, but when I asked about a spec for myself, the guy suggested a card with 128 stand alone memory.
what ever that means.

depends on what motherboard you have if it’s old or new! not every card is compatible with every pc!
let me know what you have and i will try and advise!!

Check if ya Motherboard has an AGP slot.
A lot of the cards are designed for gamers & 3D.
If you don’t need 3D I would go for a Matrox G550 64 dual head.

Upgrading the processor and ram will do a lot more good than upgrading the graphics card unless you have bought a serious monitor or have a real dog of a card (or ARRRGH an onboard chip)
I have just changed from 21″ CRT’s to 17″ and 19″ flat displays and they are wonderful compared ta CRT , are cheaper and have more viewing area than a comparable CRT (cheaper in terms of using a 17″ TFT display vs a 20″ Mitsubishi Diamantron tubed CRT which has the same viewable size as a TFT) -
hi
i have two pc’s networked together , one is 2yrs old the other 6 months..

Depends on whether its mainly 2D or 2D with some 3D, I think the ATI9800 is the best in the 2D department whilst the Gforce has better 3D handling. 😕
I had an ATI up until 3 months ago, but constant overheating problems and dare I say, stalling of the card forced me to rethink. I ended up buying an older Gforce card (think its a 4 or something) and that meets all my needs. Even play Call of Duty on it when Mrs Dewi isn’t looking 😉
