    http://maps.google.co.uk

Pull the little man with the mouse onto the map of the UK, you will see it will take you to that road, then use the cursor keys or mouse to move around.

They finally have released the rest of the UK, I had noticed the car recording and did see it on an off-day.

    Useful tool for sign making?

No doubt somebody will tell us that Google have missed their street, but it seems a thorough job to me. Tiny little roads around here, that I wouldn’t have thought they’d bother with, are all in there.

True Dave – I have used it already to check out the frontage of shops before going to visit. This way you are able to check out access and give a guide price for acceptance before wasting your time on a site survey that might amount to nothing

    Phill,
I thought you would be heading a campaign against the invasion of privacy by big brother!!

For info though, you can get your house/car, or even youself removed from google maps by filling in a simple form,

    i just had a look at my house… doesn’t make sense…
you drive into our street, round in a block of houses and back out… one road in and out.
but the google car has came up my street, you can see the house but it stops just as it comes to the house. then jumps by my house to the house after mine and leaves traveling down the rest of street and back out to main road. 😕 :lol1:

That is fantastic! Can see our pub and my shop, all taken on a lovely sunny day!
People can see what the area actually looks like before they go there. I like how you can pan around 360 degrees.

Mine is finally on Google but they have the wrong damn address so it shows a trash-ridden empty lot.

This is the best view I can get, if I type in the real address I get a big pic of the truck. Looks like a real dreary place.

There is no grey area where I live. You are either a Redneck or a Yuppie.
I even have a trailer park ½ mile up the street.

I see google maps has started incorporating google streetview when your after directions now. Just entered the postcode of a travelodge I’m staying in and the postcode of who I’m visiting the next day and like normal it gave the full A-B directions, now it has a small camera icon on the right & if you click on it it runs you through the full streetview journey, clever, very clever. What will they think of next? putting a man on the moon 🙄

I’ve just noticed that streetview now has a 3D option. When you are in street view mode just click on the icon of the man with the red/blue 3d glasses. Put on your own real life red/blue 3d glasses and you can immerse yourself and explore this virtual world from the comfort of your own room

    Brilliant 😀

It’s a shame they can’t do pedestrianised areas. It’s a useful tool for having a gander at survey sites before you set out. Unfortunately, loads of my jobs are down restricted access streets.

    Still, s’good though.

I saw a young girl walking through our local Arndale shopping centre, with a 360 degree camera on a helmet, so its only a matter of time….
