  • Glue Sniffer’s – Van window smashed

Posted by Graham Martin on November 4, 2005 at 8:57 am

Well that’s all I need, Van window smashed, all cans of glue gone, 🙄 🙄 🙄 and cleaning agents, Police have been, must have been Glue sniffers mate, Then the police officer turn round and ask why do I not show a sign showing that I am carrying items of this kind.

What one tin of glue and a bottle of white spirit ? his comments, (chat.) we are a part of the EEC Sir, can you get a sign showing that you are transporting this kind of item. OK firemen need notice I understand that, but I will be a sitting target for all glue sniffer’s. So with the cost of a new window and having to look for a sign, it’s going to be a good day. Did I smash the window? but I am in the wrong, I am the one that’s losing all ways. :headbang2: Graham

PS all items had a cover over them?

Bad news Graham sorry to hear it. The police always make use of situations like this to check other legal requirements, they probably checked your tax too, I suppose it is how they catch the small percentage of people they wouldn’t normally come in to contact with.

    Hope the day gets better.

Need to find a sign Ha! Ha! Ha! It will be OK but I just don’t understand kids, today, OK I try-ed Cigar’s in the playing fields at 8 years, that put me of, but I don’t smoke, It’s mind blowing to think what Kids are getting up to. But it’s always the poor s~~~~ like you and me, that put the bill, always. At night kids with no lights on riding along the road just hit one and see who gets it. The list is end less, I did 7 years with The Blues and Royals and I enjoyed it. I do think we need to bring back NS sorry but we do, 3 years. If the home can not drill wisdom it to the child, then let NS do the bizz!!!!.

bad luck Graham, its always a pain, and i’m sure that many new coppers dont have much idea,

was chatting to a long serving cop a while back and he reckons that to allow all the ‘minorities’ in to the force, i guess he means chavs etc, that the entry exam is way too easy, but there we go,

i’d also be surprised if it were glue sniffers, i thought that was pretty much finished with ? price of cannabis (apparently) these days, it’s probably cheaper to buy a bag of grass than a litre of evostik !

hey, sorry to hear about your bad luck! I know exactly how you feel… It happened to me today. Some ugly creatures smashed the drivers side window on my little Twingo… They stole my TomTom navigations system 🙁 I called the police ( here in Germany of course! ) and all they said was they dont come out to things like this any more.. if the car is drivable I could if I wanted to take it to the local police station, I did and they kept me waiting for ages and wsn’t even allow me to park my car ( open to even more theiving) in their car park I had to park round the corner in another street!! I think the worst part about it all was all the inconvenience of reporting it to police and insurance, stopping updates on my TomTom, and the feeling of my poor little car being invaded by dirty hands! I did have my tomtom out of sight by the way. oh well hope tomorrows a better day…

I think you could be right Graham (money to burn) for the last week or so fireworks have been exploding in the skies here as well, guess I am lucky I’ve never heard a real bomb go off but the ones I’m hearing sound near what I think a bomb would sound like unlike a firework. I think it must make some people feel very uneasy and thats apart from pets and livestock.

OK I never wish to kill any-ones joy, I think Fireworks 1, must only be sold by the firework makers, and only one main out let/agent in each town.

Fireworks may only be sold 4 days before the 5th.

You may only let of fireworks between 8 10. 30. no fireworks maybe set off until Nov 5th, sod all this Saturday before and Saturday after, No Nov the 5th is the day come rain or shine.

The only people that can set of Fireworks the Saturday before and after November the 5th are paid displays for charity’s.

You see it is not just letting of fireworks any more, it’s how can I better myself in the art of making the biggest bang. The fireworks that are coming into this good old UK are bombs, made for displays only, not back gardens and people do not understand that the bomb that’s sitting in the house with them. you need to be 150 yards away from them. I drive for the British Red Cross (Fire Support Unit) and we see first hand what this is doing. Last year one case, a persons shed went up, he was trying to make fire works in the back garden shed, from plans seen on Webb site http://www.skylighter.com/skylighter_in … wesdes.htm Have a look, he was bracking down fireworks to make one big one. No I don’t wish to stop anyone having fun but sorry it’s getting un safe, for our team Nov 5th is a war zone, we have seen Cats and Dogs burnt because some one tapped a fires on it to see it suffer. A&E are pushed to the full. The UK is letting war come in peace time. It’s no fun for me or our team at all.

I have a Black Lab, and each night we go for a walk, I understand keeping him in doors on the 5th, but in October say the 11 th of Oct fireworks are going off. No sorry get them stopped until the day. :uksbrules: Look how much this is costing the UK, think how many services are pulled to the full, The NHS is not the best at this time even without all this going on. When you tell someone you will be waiting 6 hours to be seen at A&E don’t come crying to me. Don’t play with fire.

Going back to the break in thing….

I feel the “not having a sign” bit , is a distraction to make you feel that you are in the wrong a little , if your feeling in the wrong your not going to press the matter any further , copper can close the case off….

In other words “Coppers hate the paperwork” , and putting you off wanting to chase it up the next day gets him out of the loop !!

I not got tunes of items just the Odd can, IE Peter told me dont need one for just the odd item. I am only a sign painter not Giy forks.

I’m no expert on this Graham….

But my common sense tells me you may be able to get away with
    “Toxic” “Flammable” “Irritant”

I don’t think you will be expected to list every different substance etc
