Posted by Iain Gordon on July 3, 2005 at 3:35 pmHere’s a little thing i did today, trying reverse cut and applying multiple layers to make a picture.
Can you spot the deliberate mistake??

deliberate mistake?
the window is not fitted? 😕how did you find it to do mate? easy/hard etc

Rob, to be honest it was fairly easy. The clipart was a WMF file imported into Corel then saved as an AI file. This i then imported into Vinyl Master Pro which has a module for splitting the image into its various layers, and also puts registration marks onto the layers.
I gave up on the registration marks supplied with the module and did my own. These consisted of a number of 4mm dots placed at the relevant positions. Using a tip i learned on the boards(what a great place this is) I then punched out the dots using a tailors punch so i could line up all the layers.
I think i feel confident enough to go the whole hog and do some proper windows now

that’s good to hear mate.
i too use my own made reg marks when layering up. a good one is a basic straight line .5 inch wide. running horizontal right below graphic
if its thick as half an inch it stays straight easier and you don’t loose it as easy as a thin line. because thick the corners are good to line up with next layer and so on.
the best part is, as you will know lining up text is you have a perfect flat line to get level. once all aligned you just whip off the guide. -
Spotted the mistake a mile away!
‘This weeks offer’ – ‘Full steam Clean’ and the car all seem to be up-side-down
(You have to stare at it for awhile, but hey when you see the image it just doesn’t go away)
