    Good Morning Folks!

Can anyone suggest a good etching film that blocks out really well?

I was looking at Metamarks crystal etch but its not cheap!

Ritrama PTA film is probably my favourite.

It’s really ‘frosty’ rather than ‘milky’ – doddle to apply and actually quite cheap.

    William Smith (supplier) carry it.

    Thanks for that Dave.

I’ve been looking at on that MDP Aslan Heavy Etch, has anyone ever used it?

Information I have is Ritrama is priced between Metamarks standard frost and their Dusted, Silver and Crystal range.

Standard Metamark Frost is a calendered 4 year durability at a good price.
Their Dusted, Crystal and silver is 2x the price but has a 7 year durability.

Ritrama PTA is more in comparison to the Metamark Frost witha 5 year durability.

I tend to use all the Metamark range depending on the customers preference, not the price.
Unless you are doing acres and acres of the stuff the difference in price does not make that much difference and is just absorbed by passing on the difference in the quote.
If you make your quote then try and find the best priced vinyl to make the most money it seems a back to front way of pricing.

Metamark Silver has silver flexs in it so I would think you need to get samples and show the customer what they are getting.

Not sure what you mean by blocks out really well, even light looking frosts which look as if they can be seen through only have that effect if things are close to the film. As soon as you are a foot away the outline of things can not really be seen unless a strong backlight is present and then it will show through any frost.

Metamark and Spandex (image perfect) use the same film I believe just with a different backing, are they both Ultra mark products?

    Thanks for the replies guys.

I ended up using the MDP Aslan Easy Apply Etch. it’s the 1st time I’ve done any etch work and it worked great!

i applied it all dry like the supplier suggested and it looked great and the customer was very pleased.
