Hi all, I would like to introduce myself to the forum members.

My name is Jay Chamberlain from St Helens.

Most of my limited time in the sign business has been to do with installations, wich I love, have done some pretty interesting jobs over the past couple of years.

Due to unforseen circumstances I have found myself in the position of having to to the whole design, cut and install routine myself, “quite daunting!”, but being a tryer I have wrestled with it and am getting there.

The best moment of my dark past couple of months was discovering UKsignboards, it lifts me no end when I start to doubt my abilities, like a friend who is allways there, very helpful when the only way you can learn is the hard way.

I currently use a Summacut D120 and Signgo pro, as this is what I inherited, but would appreciate some feedback on the other cutting progams available.

Don’t have much trouble installing the signs I create, but do stuggle alot with laying vinyl, bubbles are the bain of my life, I find myself doing everything wet to get the required result, i can fit a 24 foot neon sign 30 foot in the air, but can’t get rid of those damm bubbles.

Anyway enough of prattling on, it gives me greatt pleasure and insparation to be a member of what seems to be a group of very friendly people. :thanks2:

    Regards

    Jay Chamberlain

    Hi Jay,

    Your intro is very good.

WE have a few here that have progressed from fitting only to the whole kit & caboodle.

Even those of us here that have been doing it for years, still struggle with the odd bubble on a bad day.

I use signwizard myself. A very professional program that makes the signmaking easy, giving you more opportunity to be creative.

Others here use equally proffessional software too.

I have been in this game over 12 years now, but UKSB is a place that I rate fairly highly as a must for sign people.

They are a great bunch, with a good core of helpful folk, from all areas of the sign business.

Don’t forget your picture, as it is nice to know who you are talking too.

Look forward to seeing some of your work too

    Hi Jay
Welcome, and a fellow Saint Hellener! (Unless you mean the St Helens on the Isle of Wight :))
Hope to be in touch if we are local. I have used Signgo, but mainly stick to Corel Draw as I don’t do much vinyl signwork.
    Cheers

Hi agian, thank you for your warm welcome. I am a fellow St helener and look forward to touching base with you David.

I have found the tutorials exremely helpful and appreciate the fact that people take time out from their busy lives to take the time to submit them.

    Thanks again

    Hiya Jay,
I admire you being able to fix signs especially high up as I am terrified of heights over 3 feet 😮
Anyway welcome to the boards its a great place for tips and tricks and lots of laughs :lol1:

    Hi Jay,
If the bain of your life is bubbles look at Rob’s demo on laying dry I have been doing this stuff for the last 10 years or so but still picked up so many tips – particular from this demo.
I am now saving so much time 😛
    Good Luck
