…who did that song in the early 80’s….
    Madness?
    I used to dig it.
It’s quiet here too, a holiday weekend in fact.
Just a few M-80s going off in the trailer court over the hill.

    Sure was the Specials!!

4th July Independence day, I remember seeing Bruce Springsteen at Wembley Stadium on 4th July 1985, boiling hot day it was too.

Thought I’d just let you know that 😀

    The Specials!
    How could I forget.
I saw Bruce in 2000, I’m not a huge fan, but I was someone’s date.
A local hairdresser we know was called in at the last minute to do both Bruce & his Mrs.’ hairdos.
I think I broke up with the date a few months after.
I should have known that his taste in music not being the same as mine was a good indicator.
He never liked artists, either. And he always bitched at me for swearing.
    😉

    Hey Jill

Me and the Mrs have totally different tastes in music,
She hates what I like and vice versa.

I was at art collage in the punk era so like quite way out music so to speak. The Mrs loves George Benson, Luther Vandross and all that dribble.

I was well into old Brucie in the early eighties. ”Jungleland” being my favourite Bruce tarck check it out if you get a chance. 😀

I was in art school in the punk/new wave era….
hence liking Gary Numan, Adam & the Ants, etc etc etc….
more like soft-core punk I guess.
I saw both of them in concert and they were way better than old Bruce.
Of his band, I liked that big guy, Clarence Clemmons (sp?)
    He was quite the showman.
    Garsh I feel old.

Clarence was the man Jill he could sure play a mean saxaphone.

I had a mate who was the dead spit of Gary Newman, he used to dress like him and when we went out the girls were all over him, the rest of us never stood a chance.

My fav bands at the time were ”The Stranglers” Just reading Hugh Cornwall’s auto biographhy (lead singer) ”The Sex Pistols” brilliant stuff complete nutters. And a band called ”Magazine” loved all the other stuff too as you say the soft punk. Great time the early 80’s, your making me feel old now, how life just wizzzes by Aye.

    Hey Shane,
Everyone prefers my wifes taste in music.
I don’t like soul, R&B, jazz, anything like that bores the pants off me. 🙁

I guess the best bands I like currently are Green Day and the Killers. 🙂

green day / killers certainly are standing out there…madness also rocked!

although im gonna throw a spanner in the works here… i like a lot of music as I used to do small DJing disco’s etc.. but my main music taste is more electro towards Tiesto, but listen to a lot of music as long as you can party and move ur body to it! :funky:

I listen to a lot of ance music, im heavily into progressive tech and listen to a lot of DNB, electro and psy-trance. (i was a massive tiesto fan a few years back and saw him play a number of shows, they were great)

As for more popular rock bands alternate styles of rock based music, placebo, muse, dandy warhols, mounain goats, red hot chilli peppers and arctic monkeys all rate highly for me at the moment.

Im getting into a lot of blues at the moment too as thats the direction im taking my guitar playing, and im also learning to play blues harmonica, so im having a lot of fun listening to and jamming with blues. Its so much more complicated than i expected. But the theory behind it usefull for other styles.

Does anyone else here play an instrument?

There’s quite a few on the boards that play guitar, there was post a while back about that. Quite a talented bunch here 😀 … apart from me…. i don’t play an instrument 🙁 …. I can’t even sing 🙁

But I do love my music. (-music)
