    Hi Friends

thanks for the post. managed to hobble to a computer to get my much needed uksb’s fix.

The operation itself seems to have been successful, not in as much pain as the surgeon expected, but had other dramas.

Had a nasty reaction to the post-operative morphine, my blood pressure plummeted so low I couldn’t lift my head.

Threw up everywhere (and I’m really noisy too 😳 ), was so bad they had to readmit me thru emergency at 11pm that night.

Put me in a room with 3 old war vets being treated for prostrate cancer 😕

Dr released me next day, but then I had a bad reaction to the pain killers and I’ve been pretty crook ever since.

I’m supposed to be confined to bed until monday but I’m going up the wall with boredom 😕

Physio gave me excercises which need pain killers and the pain killers make me sick, so it is a pretty nasty circle. 🙁 They have tried a few different types but I react to them all. Just taking standard panadol now.

I’d just like to say tho, that checking my emails this morning, I really appreciate the private emails sent to me for support. Nancy has txt me too offering support which was also appreciated.

    You are a great community.

Got a few jokes to download but it will be in the next few days. I have to get off my feet now.

    Cheers
    Shane

    Well done Shane.

There’s no point talking to HUEY if you do it quietly. :lol1:

As for the drug reaction, just ditch the lot and walk about with a pencil in your teeth. Well it worked on Mash! If the pain gets worse, just upgrade to an HB2.

    Glad you’re OK.

    All the best.

    Simon.

Excellent to hear all’s well Shane.

I can sympathise with the post op drug prob. A few years ago I have the cartilage on my knee operated on and went to theatre at about 8.30am. They told me I should be awake by around 10.30/11.00 and be able to go home after lunch.

Ha!!!!! didn’t wake at all until around 1pm, threw up lots, passed out, and theis continued intermitantly til around 5 when i was still drowsey and sick but concious so went home about six.(sort of against docs advice, but I realy don’t like hospitals).

Anyway this thread is about you not me so make a good recovery asap.

    All the best mate

Lee, you sound the same as me. I had the op at 2pm and was still barfing at 11pm so they would not let me go home. Being uninsured I was worried about the cost, but they did the bed for half price in the end.

My stomach muscles are still painful, and I am unable to open my jaw fully as a complication of the medication. Got to cut my food into real small portions. My kids think I’m having them on…

The wife is still at work snd thinks I’m in bed so I’ll post some jokes now while I have the chance.

Cheers, and thanks again everyone for your support.

Well actually I meant clear liquids and Ginger Ale.

    Just an update…

Went to the surgeon today for my post op checkup. He is really very pleased with my recovery todate. He had another surgeon sitting in, and she was amazed that I’m back at work already.

I told them I thought I’d be better than this, and they both told me I was being unrealistic. They think it will take another 6 weeks before I will be recovered completely, and would have been happier if I stayed off work a bit longer.

I guess I was expecting too much on reflection. My wife reckons I am the worse patient she knows.

Turns out my knee cap was badly damaged from an earlier incident (which I don’t remember) so it had to be reshaped, and I had a large cartlidge tear down the inside of my leg. I’ll never be able to kneel down properly on my left leg again, so I have to start favouring my right leg now.

I’ll be limping for a few weeks yet, so the doc told me I’ll have to get used to it in the short term.

    Cheers

Yeah Lance, what a stuff up though.

The vehicle was coming up from Sydney overnight for me to sign today. They sent me an email telling me the digital print had to fit in an area 1.4 mtr x 4.8mtrs.

I printed a full colour photographic sign 1.2mt x 4.3mt to fit in the space.

Got my 2 kids out of school, loaded my parents in the van, and we trundled off to to the job. The client wants it in one piece with no joins.

Get to the job, to find the area to sign is only 1mt x 3.6mts!

The bloke in Sydney measured the whole tipper area, not the sign area.

So we have a problem. The client wants it finished by tomorrow. and I’ve got enough material to wrap 1 and 1/2 trucks!

I have told him I’ll see what I can do, but the client is feeling a little sheepish right now.

Tomorrow is forecast for rain, and I can only do the job outdoors, so I’ll see how it goes. Looks like it may be a new re print at the moment.

    Cheers mate

I haven’t had a phone-line since I moved shops, just back on now (it’s been a bit of a nightmare). Still won’t have broadband for at least a week, but at least I can work properly again.
I have really missed you lot, for the laughs and alll the advice!

Hadn’t been on the board for a while Shane so I didn’t know….

I’m glad your surgery went well (except for the throwing up part 😉 of course) and good to see you are up and around and doing well Shane!

I’m sure by now clear liquids include that beer 😉

    speedy recovery to you

    Thanks Leigh,

You’re not wrong about the beer 😀

Should be able to start ladder work next week. Having a few dramas with the swelling, bt my hair is not growing back as quickly as I’d like.

My leg is still bald around the knee, and hairy above and below. Looks really wierd. I wear long trousers when I can!
