Gerber Solara problems
Posted by Simon.Kay on November 18, 2009 at 9:38 pmAll,
We are experiencing some difficulties printing with this otherwise terrific printer onto rigid PVC.
Material is Lucprint (gloss) – supplier has indicated that material is okay for digital print, so unsure as to what issue is.
Does anyone else have a similar problem?
Ta,
Simon

I forward your concerns to the digital printing group. Someone should be trying to contact you. You could help by either posting or emailing your contact info to me, it would be a help.

Simon it would help if you could let us know what problems you are having. I am printing a load of the stuff in the morning, never had any trouble with it before

Thanks Mark.
We are trying to get good adhesion to a semi-rigid PVC substrate and failing miserably! Substrate is super-clean when printed and we allow plenty of time for inks to cure but each time, ink can be rubbed off without any difficulty.
Can you print onto this type of material?
We also have some issues with static, but we know why those are happening and what needs to be done about them.
Thanks!
Simon

It sounds like your UV lamps are losing there power a bit. We had this problem a while back. The ink feels dry but scratches really easily. We changed the lamps and have had no problems at all since. This didn’t only happen on rigid PVC but also paper Foamex and just about everything else. The worst tho was plastics. We have an Oce UV flatbed machine

hi there
this forum is here to help present and future users of the site.
if you have a solution or advice to give based on our members problem, please do so here by "replying". not by taking the problem and possible solution to it "off-site". this creates a dead post and benefits nobody.i would also suggest you review our board rules please.

Robert- my hope in this situation would be that if Simon gets some help he would post that info here. If I get any info I would post it here. In the end I’m just trying to help the end user any way I can. I have also told Simon that if he does not get any replies from the proper people to let me know as I’m a real PITA about this stuff.
