Just a quick question to see if anyone else has come across this possible issue. Sometimes i get a terrible screech (similar to a car fan belt type noise) from starting up the machine and also just before it starts to print after it’s engaged the foil. I can minimise it by pre-heating the machine but I would like to know if it’s caused by temperature or something more serious that needs an engineer visit. Other than this the machine prints fine.
    Any clues would be great.

    Thanks in advance,
    Al.

Does the screeching noise happen when the foil is being lowered at the start of the printing and at the end when it’s lifting?
If so you just need some teflon grease on the screw mechanism.
It runs dry after a few years!

Yes, It almost certainly does it when the machine is switched on and going through the motions before it go’s to offline and also when the foil is lowered. I’ve never heard it though after printing. I’ll have a close look tomorrow about greasing. Not sure where you mean though regarding the teflon grease??

    Cheers,

    Alex,

This is the direct link to the gsp website’s document about this very issue.
It explains what you need to do to eliminate the squeak.

(Admins – please feel free to delete the link in case I have broken the forum’s rules, as I’m not sure if I can post a link on this forum)

    Regards

    Thanks George & Neil,
I was just reading this very document when you sent the link. Will give it a go tomorrow but it looks like this is the culprit.
    Thanks for your help,
    Al.
