Hello I am wondering if some one  can help me please.

My question is based around printing a rectangle shape 2 metres long x 6 inches in width in a solid colour using a gerber edge and summa dc3/4 thermal printer.

Does the summa print left to right at a certain width where it then moves the vinyl forward overlaps the colour and prints again until it reaches the 2 metre length? I am guessing this is how it works.

Does the gerber print this shape in 1 piece with no overlaps by just feeding the vinyl through using 2 metres of ribbon or does it print section by section?

Is my understanding correct? Just trying to figure out how the ribbons are used on both machines.

    Thanks

    Joe

Yes you are correct with your assumptions. The gerber will print in one continuous length and use 2m x 300mm of foil

The Summa will print 100mm bands to make up the 2M length and presumably will be more economic on foil although in my experience the banding will be evident.
