Does anyone use a pop up shelter for signwriting vehicles when going to customer’s premises?

It’s not ideal but something to keep the rain and wind out would be handy when fitting off site.

Any suggestions for something that’s suitable for vans etc as most gazebos are not that tall?

    Thanks

    Nick

I thought of doing this in the past, Nick, and would love to know how you get on with it.

I too would love to know how you get on.

I want to do the odd car and van graphics ("Bob the Painter",that sort of thing etc…) on the side but don’t have a premises to work from so though a gazebo would be ideal to the install’s on-site.

We were looking at the autoglass style vans with built in gazebos, also looked at portable inflatable garages at one point to throw in the back of a pickup 🙂

Noticed this in sign up date.

It’s a business for sale with a pic of a blow up style garage, it looks a great bit of kit, tried to find a supplier but not found anything uk based yet.

    Anyone seen these?

    Gil

    That looks just the job!
Even better if one person can put it up.

I’ve thought about this before, obviously you have got to think of your liability insurances also. Adding something like a gazebo to the mix means something else that has potential to damage a customers vehicle, especially if you are choosing to use it to guard against wind.

I have used various pop up units before and they have worked amazingly well. The only problem I encountered was lighting. Some areas became difficult due to lighting conditions :thumbup2:

Good luck though bud, would be good to see someone come up with a solution.

I looked into buying these for a project i was involved end of 2013. Visited a couple of places and actually saw first hand how they were made and erected in the UK. There is a lot to think about when doing this right. We all seem to look at the cost first, practicality second and forget much about the functionality. A simple one is how do you light it in winter? after all its dark from 4pm in winter. obvious one is LED lighting but its not so straight forward doing it right. nothing worse than wrapping anywhere never mind a badly lit room!
another is heat source and so on…
Bottom line is, no matter what one you use, YES you now have the rain off you and a break from the wind.
My point is, shelling out a few hundred quid or even a grand or so more. do it right first time!

here are a few different types, there are lots!
None listed below are the more durable ones, and best fit for purpose that i had a demo on. ill see if i can find the name and load the info.

I bought a blow up one the other day, secondhand. I also bought a brand new blower to go with it.
It works very well, and it easily fits a VW transporter with about a meter space all round to work in. The ends zip up to close it. It lets in enough light to do a wrap.

Thanks for the reply, I did find a company online who do these and I’m waiting for a quote.

I’d definitely rather the inflatable version like the attached image. I think it will save quiet a bit of time if your not diy friendly like myself.

Power won’t be a problem, as it will mainly be used down the side of a shop space I have.

Simon , how do you find yours with winds ect

Also Rob I could not get the YouTube links to load

Danny winds are not a problem (within reason) as long as you keep it staked to the ground.
There are warnings all over it reminding you to stake it – tent pegs or u-pegs would be okay, they would probably come with the item if you got it new.
By the way mine is really pretty heavy. I cannot lift it by myself.
