• Gas prices

I’ve done a search, and found plenty of threads on electricity prices, but can’t see anything about gas.

Received the letter this morning telling us that our contract ends soon, and want to see if I can find a better deal. It’s been a cold winter I know, but can’t help feeling that our bills have been a bit on the high side.

For the next twelve months E-on want to charge us 12.55p per day standing charge, plus 3.56p per kWh.

Guidance on what deals others have, and any suppliers to be avoided, would be welcomed.

We pay 4.943/kwh with no standing charge. Let me know if you need a number.

Works for us as we only use it for heating workshop in the winter.

    Cheers

So, perhaps ours isn’t too far out of line then.

I went on a comparison site, although it was for domestic rather than commercial, and the savings on offer weren’t worth the hassle of changing supplier.

Thanks for the info lads. 😀

    a £300 a month standing charge? + what you use, + vat?

thats extortionate, no wonder the can afford to drop standing charges for domestic customers.

surely it’d be cheaper to use lpg cylinders? i ran a retail unit about 10yr ago which had heating that relied on the big lpg cylinders, we had 4 large hot air blowers which, in winter, were on for about 10hrs a day + on a stat overnight to keep it above 6°c, two big cylinders lasted two weeks! has to be cheaper!

when i do finally get a unit i think i’ll be avoiding gas !
