    Hello

I’ve been sent a design by a company with swirls on the side of a car with the letters over lapping it. I have heard on this site people talking about window frosted vinyl applied and remember them saying it looked nice. Has anybody done this? Opinions/Pitfalls? And if possible a photo to show the affect.

    Thanks

    Martin

Dont think there would be any problems as long as the vinyl is rated for outdoor use. Some of the cast etch is easy to handle, and is thin enough for this use. It will grey out the colour behind, and Ive used the effect on shop windows. The most recent, I cut the logo and inlayed the coloured vinyl and finished off with cut text of the same colour applied to the rear of the frost.

This was all done with black and frost and shows how the colour is changed through the frost.

There was a post on the forum where someone had used it on the side of a van Martin complete with pictures. Was a few years ago if I remember correctly. Did try a quick search for you but I’m rubbish with the search functions lol.

I think Carrie posted about it years ago.
It was kind of a cool effect, if memory serves.
Don’t think the frosted stuff would be super conformable into recesses but I do think it would last just fine.

We did this on a van a couple of months ago. We used a cast matte laminate and the effect is really nice. It makes much more of an impact in the flesh as when it goes by it makes you look again.

Thanks for all your comments and photos. I thought it would look nice but just wanted to see it before I went ahead. I will post a few photos once I’ve done the job

Thanks for the Advice, Here’s a couple of photos of the finished job. Roof is done in Matt White with gloss cut letters.
