Please could someone tell me the rules for chevrons n the front of a van, if any? I’m assuming you can’t use reflective red facing forwards but what is the preferred material? Can’t find much information online.

    Thanks

Quick rule of thumb is same as marker lights.

    Red – Rear facing
    White – Forward facing
    Amber – Side facing

I’m not sure there is a need for chevrons on the front but I’ve seen cranes etc with painted chevrons (not reflective) on the front but that may just be because they tend to get parked in the middle of a road to do their job.

I looked at this a number of years ago for a customer that had a business supplying escort vehicles for wide loads. Couldn’t find any specific info for the front of vehicles other than the lighting regs Stephen has mentioned.
Be careful with choice of material, I used engineering grade reflective but had quite a few problems fitting as the fronts of most vehicles tend to have a few curves which makes fitting a real pain.

I’ve been asked to use orange flourescent and yellow reflective. Should that be OK?

    Kind regards

Ok sorted now. Thanks for the input. I’m going to wrap the bonnet red then put white reflective stripes on.

    Thanks
