  • Free laminator with Versacamm – did you get yours?

Posted by James kelly on April 30, 2004 at 11:14 am

Hi, I purchased a Versacamm at SignUK and part of the deal at the show was a free laminator.

I got the printer and it works great but still no laminator. I was told this morning by the rep that I will not get my laminator until at least the 3rd week in May!

I was also told that no-one who bought the ‘show deal’ has received a laminator yet. Is anyone else still waiting or has anyone actually received their laminator? I just want to check if I’m being told the truth.

    FREE laminator?
i know the versacamm is a great machine. but does giving a free laminator not sorta acknowledge the problem of print durability? 😕

i dont know a whole lot about printing so excuse me. maybe just me, sorry. 🙄

Hi KEv, the prints from the Versacamm are very durable unlaminated especially if printed on good digital vinyl such as Metamark MD5. However as with prints from any machine intended for agressive environments such as vehicles, laminating gives extra protection and peace of mind.

Sorry to disagree with you on this one James 🙁 , l don’t think the versacamm prints are very durable at all. I laminate pretty much everything l put out.

What vinyl are you printing on? I print mainly on Metamark Digital vinyl using the profiles from Roland and the profiles from Cadlink for Signlab 7 and I can’t rub the prints off with my finger like in the ‘should it do this’ posts on the board.

I have to be quite agressive to damage the prints. As I said, I laminate (by hand at the moment) for harsh environments. After all, the ink from any printer is microscopically thin – I wouldn’t dream of leaving airbrush work unprotected, same goes for prints.

I’m wondering if your printer has been set-up correctly during installation.
