Is there any specific software to help with this?

Its easy if its an EPS or .AI file using path > offset path but when the image I need to cut is a bitmap file its well hard

    Hi.

I use CorelDraw personally! You need to duplicate the image on a 2nd page, click on bitmap tab at top, then mode and convert to b&w image. (Try and get as much as the image to convert to black so it gives a clear outline where you will want to cut!) Then trace the bitmap image, until the image and change the outline to what your cutting programme recognises as a cut line before cutting and pasting this outline back on the original image on page one!
It’s quite simple once you’ve done it a few times!

    Good luck!

As Dave has already said learn to use the software you have, spend 15mins a day learning how to use the drawing tools & node editing within what ever software you are using & before to long you will be doing this with ease.
