    Hi.

Following up from my previous post regarding issues with laminating print, i have taken your helpful advice and been looking at changing a few parts etc.

Now having spoken to a service engineer, do you guys move your laminators at all? i move mine a few mtrs when i use it to get more space. Ive now been adviced that when they are setup mm perfect, they should stay put.

So the feeling im getting is i shipped my excelam over from the uk, loaded material and off i go. Im now realising (as many have before me having read posts) that it needed to be setup by a professional for it to work correctly.

If this is correct problem im now faced with the 120 euros an hour on site and 1 euro km (600km round trip) bill to get this up and running correctly. Also with no guarentee that they can get it working right (as they supply SEAL and not GMP).

Starting to consider starting from scratch and buying new with installation incl.

    Hi Martyn

Whilst I have no experience of your brand I bought a laminator second hand off this site moved it 100 miles and set it up at which point it was moved around from time to time without issue, then sold it on to a pal so another 75 mile move and it has been fine since again whilst being moved around in situ – hence I find it hard to believe your laminator has to be set up professionally mm perfect and then not moved without problems

    Hi Martyn,

It sounds more like the company you bought from are just box shifters and do not commission the machine so to say before delivery.

The excuse they have given you does make logical sense but personally i would say it only really needs calibrated on delivery or initial setup and it doesnt sound like that has been done with yours. Our roll to roll laminator is a Mounters Mate and its been through 3 property moves and still functions as it should while being occasionally moved around my workshop.

If you go down the new route i would speak to Omar at Mounters Mate, they sponsor the site and have a link on the right hand side with all the other sponsors.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Martyn,

You’re probably over thinking this a bit. We’ve had our Excelam apart, transported it then re-assembled, it’s really a pretty simple machine and it doesn’t really require expert setting up or calibrating.

Once you have new clutch pads (tension brakes), checked the springs are even, the only last thing that could be wrong is if the rollers are worn, but assuming they are okay, that is all that is required.

Our laminator like yours, is on wheels. Moving it across a room should present no difficulties at all

Yes u r right. I’ve had it apart over the weekend. Adding more tension to the roller has helped a lot. The clutch pads are definitely shot as tension is on full and can’t be adjusted but can’t work out how to tear them down. Its an improvement anyway
