I am looking to flood coat a long thin existing sign with white vinyl before applying cut vinyl lettering.
I have spare cut lengths of unlaminated Avery MP12903 from previous jobs I have done, This is a mid range digital print vinyl.
I thought I would use some this for the job, but I have a question: How will it stand up to the elements without being laminated?
Since there is no print to protect, I am thinking it will just act like normal mid range vinyl with no problems?

I’m thinking the same as above.

    Avery description:

    • Durability: 4 years (gloss), 5 years (matte)
    • Designed for short to mid-term applications
    • Great for indoor/outdoor

Personally, I would like to use 7 year vinyl on outdoor stuff. On a flat panel, the worst that can happen, can shrink 1mm on the edge.

Knowing you and the materials you use, I won’t be using this vinyl.

I would only be using this vinyl for a indoor job.

I haven’t used a non digital white vinyl for over 20 years Simon, never had any issues. I wont use anything less than a 7-10 year though

Point taken. The fact that it is unlaminated is not an issue, the short term vinyl itself is the issue.
    Gotcha!
