  • Flood Coating – How do you?

Just wondered how others flood coat?

    Wet / Dry?
    With application tape or none?

    any hints tips?

I only ask as sometimes it all goes very smoothly for me other times a nightmare.

    Tim.

Wet with no application tape for me, and a nice soft felt squeegee

i say dry, lots say wet. if its humid or warm and your unsure, use wet.
i flood coated two 8×4 sheets of painted alluminium dry yesterday in a warm room. looked perfect. i did tape them up though cos it was a cast vinyl and stetches easy with the heat of your finger tips.
dry app is down to squeegee tecnique. get it right and your laughing 😀

    Thanks Rob.

I have actually been finding Dry easier. Trying to master your technique that Dewi has spoke about in here.

If you don’t tape up Rob what type of squeegee do you go for?

use either a felt one or a nylon one but using some double sided tape, tape a strip of soft worn denim to the edge of the squeegee. this stops dust or fibre streaks on the vinyl face. doesnt eliminate them but helps allot.
