Anyone have any words of wisdom for flood coating a 1200 x 800 acrylic panel with vinyl? Have had a go dry and went on ok to a point then all went wrong (nbot enough hands mainly) Then tried it wet (first time I’ve done anything wet) and wasn’t impressed with finish, bubbles everywhere etc.

Did see a link to a demo Rob did but seems I don’t have right access to watch it for some reason.

    Any help appreciated,

p.s can get another pair of hands if required.

    Three words, Elliott.

All the main manufacturers do a version.

    Thanks Simon,

fair point! Aren’t the air release systems just for cast and wrap film? can you get it on more modest calendared vinyl at a reasonable price?

    Hi,

Just incase … when you did it wet, did you use any special applying liquid ? Did you use just water or water and soap ?
I would say if just normal vinyl, then put lots of water with a little soap in it on both the vinyl and the support then use a window cleaning squeegee to squeeze all the liquid out from under the vinyl.

If possible, put the panel flat (on or against something… table, wall)so that you can get good pressure, you can even wet the front of the vinyl to help you slide the squeegee !

With plexiglass type of panels don’t be afraid to put lots of liquid that will help you if you are not at ease with dry fitting.

That’s just how I started after messing up fitting vinyl to plexiglass that was too thin and not flat on a table(couldn’t press on it as it bended :-(. Ended up drowning the support + the vinyl and usisng a window cleaner squeegee.
    That worked for me

Hope you get it sorted as you wish. Good luck 🙂

air release also exists on cheap monomeric vinyl.
