hi all, i have an order from a good customer for a 20ft x 10ft illuminated lightbox. obviously this would be best done using flexface.
not being one for pushing this sorta work i dont use it much… this being the case i am unfamilure with suppliers costings. in other words i dont really know if i am being ripped off or not :lol1: :lol1:
i would rather go for a reputable supplier to a cheap & cheerful one.
if anyone has any suggestions ide love to hear.

    thank you… 😀

I don’t who you had in mind but we use Kestrel Signs in Birmingham, 0121 783 0779. We had a 4ft x 20ft flex for British Airways just before Xmas which they wanted doing before the holiday, they knocked it out in a week, great service we have used quite a few times in the past.

They did that for about £900.00 I think will have to check, we just got the blank face and put our own graphics on, but they do print faces if you need it.

Universal aren’t bad but the tensioning system can be a bit of a pain. Also you have top buy the skin seperatley with these , can be dodgy!

I won’t metion any names but I personally don’t like the system with black clips and the supplier that I know, not far from me, are quite expensive and failed by quite alot on the BA job.

Their is one other we have used that I like the best. It is a rope system (sounds ancient) from a company in London, not the cheapest but this system has a great benefit of removing the face from the back light box so its in two parts, brilliant for installation. You can actually put the face on the front frame in the workshop and transport to site, assuming its not to big for yer van 🙂

Another thing to consider which would never occured to me if Kestel did not ask. They sometimes have boxes which have been cancelled or some other problem and will sell on the cheap. Worth asking if you are not to restricted with the size and you have a little poetic license.

    Hi Robert,
there’s a company called Signbase UK who advertise in the back of Signlink. Their number is 01773 535356. I’ve never used them so can’t comment on their work but they seem geared up for the larger side of the market.
We can supply printed and unfinished banners at 20′ x 10′ in frontlit or backlit at a cost of £260 and you wouldn’t have carriage costs being just up the road.
    Hope this helps,
    regards,
    John.

hi steve thanks a million for the feeback mate, i had called signbase uk on friday i think & got a price, i thought it was steep to say the least, so i came on here to see if anyone had any other suppliers. ive used kestral in the past but i think it was for neon? im sure this maybe another depot but was in the edinburgh area.
anyway… yesterday morning signbase came back to me and apologised for the quote. they by mistake over quoted me about £1000 😕
anyway, the guy was very helpful and i went on to place the order with him, signbase uk.
the flexface illuminated sign will come printed, assembled, delivered and ready for fitting on site. so takes the headache of having to letter something that size with a flexible face.
so far, so good, will keep you all posted how things progress and quality.

    thanks also john… 😉

    No problem.
Not heard of Signbase! What’s the tensioning system like? Would like to see a profile pic if possible when you get it. You said that you are having it printed? Are they coating the face for added UV stability? I have never liked the idea of digi printing a fascia as its normally a loooonnnngggg term sign that its for. I know print stability has improved but how long will it really last especially in direct sun. Although one that we did a couple of years ago with a digi print logo but the rest in vinyl still looks good today 🙄 🙂 I will post it up.

Fortunatley most we have done have been vector graphics, not done lots of them, only say 4 or 5 a year.

Rob, we’ve been using a lot of Flexface recently and have been buying the Insight Speedflex hinged system in fully made up boxes . The prices are good and you tension the face in the factory meaning less hassle for the fitters on site. They’re on your doorstep too!

sorry to butt in but im new to all this and wondered why you would use a flex face sign over a rigid one?

Are they like a tensioned banner in a frame?
