  • Flex face material required?

Posted by Martin Cole on April 22, 2009 at 2:35 pm

Never done one before and need to replace a 2000 x 1200 triangular flex face sign with new skin 😕
What is the material I require, or will a normal back lit banner material be ok…..and also anyone sell it in smaller qty’s than 30mtrs

Any help as always much appreciated

I think back lit banner is fine.

You might want to try Hexis as I think they sell it in 5m rolls too. Couldn’t swear by it though.

    Cheers

Haven’t got a clue Rob, it’s an awkward one to get up to have a look at aswell 🙁
However I will look prior to buying any material, I don’t think I would know one system from another.

Thanks Gary, it’s not a massive size so kind of hoped the backlit banner might do the job. I’ll check out my Hexis catalogue

    Martin,

Rob is right (I bet he doesn’t hear that often!) – I’d check what system they’re using before you order the material as some Flexface systems require the edges of the skin to be hemmed to accept tensioning rods whereas others are just lapped back on themselves to accept the clips that hold the face in place (some of these systems will require a special tool to remove the clips too).

If it turns out to be a Universal system then Plastiweld would be the best bet for a competitively priced skin complete with hemming & printing. If it’s an Insight or Nova system then ESP would be worth a call.

If you can post a decent close up photograph on here it may be possible to identify the system.

Not trying to teach you to suck eggs but there are a number of pitfalls waiting for you if you’re not careful!

    Thanks for the advice Guy,

I will investigate further and if poss post a picture, I have seen the ones you mean with the hems and rods..
