Flatcut letters, Which adhesive?
Posted by Paul Rollason on December 13, 2005 at 10:14 amHi all
I have cut some letters from forex and I am using Snapfix fixings consisting of an alkathene cup which screws to the backboard and a clear acrylic ball type stud that glues the the back of the letters.
What adhesive should I use for sticking acrylic to forex?
Cheers

We use a 3M glue for this sort of thing, it comes in a double barrel tube and is mixed together as it leaves the nozzle. Robs the one to get the exact details from as he fits the signs, im just the design/ production lol.

I’m pretty sure pvc pipeweld (plumbing pipe glue) will stick that. Give it a try.

2 part araldite is ok i have used it before with no problems a little tip is to score the back of the pegs with a stanley knife to give it a good key

Never thought of PVC pipe glue, that should work and I think I’ve got some under the sink
I will give it a go
If that doesn’t work I’ll have a go with araldite
Thanks again

Just like to report that the PVC pipe cement works really well and when I tried to prise it the stud off this morning the stud broke before the glus gave way so result
And what with it being pipe cement it should be waterproof as well
