I got to fix flat cut letters to a roller shutter box.

don`t fancy using male and female locators, as i don`t know how close the inside workings are to the side of the box. Knowing my luck, I`ll screw the shutter so it doesn`t work.

Would it be safe to fix the letters using strong double sided tape.

They are only 8 inch hign and out of the way of little fingers..

    thanks

I’m sure that would be fine mate as long as you don’t want then to be stood proud of the box of course. I’d have thought that you would be safe enough to screw through the box too using short screws 3/8″ or so – it can’t be that close to the inside workings but its up to you !

The “workings” I presume you mean the shutter, when its rolled up there will be reduced clearance along the centre line, just avoid this area and you should be ok.

The working are usually clear from the top and bottom by at least 4 inches, even when the shutter is up. As Nigel says, diddy screws should do the job, the only problem I’ve had is that most self-tapping screws have a huge head that won’t fit into the locator socket 😕

The other thing I’ve tried is attaching batons to the shutter with screws at the very top and the very bottom, then screwing a piece of half inch painted ply to the the batons across the full length. You can then screw anything you like into it. The problem with that one is there is always a join line to hide, and the soffits & end pieces are a pain, but it is a surefire way if you’re using smaller letters.

    Cheers, Dewi
