rich, you can get just about "anything" cut mate…
call a flat cut letter supplier. ask him the file type he needs the artwork in, email him it and get a price. most will accept ai files and the like.
material, let them advise you best, after all they are cutting this type of thing everyday. they will also have the artwork at hand to get a proper visual on whats needed/best suits. -
no problem mate…
what will they be fixed too?
how do you plan to fix them?
what colour do they need to be?
has 10mm been stipulated?
at what distance will they be viewed? -
rob you sound like my customer
I’m going to make another !!!! reynobond tray this is going to be black
the letters are going to be white fitted with stand off
ball and cup fittings
this will give around 10mm i hope stand off
behind this will be (applied first) Orange vinyl in the shape of 2 arrows10mm was my idea but I’m not fussy a guess if using reynobond could be 5mm
there about 6 meters up -
rynabond is fine for the letters mate, i doubt if the 10mm will be that noticeable from that height. if you wanted some depth i would use 19mm gloss faced/backed foamex. but like i said, not really important that high up… but would be much better than the 10mm as its very firm and doesn’t buckle. Ive used similar here in this demo https://www.uksignboards.com/viewtopic.php?t=3035
one thing to watch with fixing letters to dibond id the adhesive you use. i normally use a two part 3m glue to stick locator’s to flat cuts and the like. however, it causes dimples in the face of the material. i think its the strengh/heat of the glue curing that effects the core of these type of materials. ide suggest taking a scrap of dibond or the like. using the glue you will stick the locator’s on with do some tests on the scrap. leave it 24hrs then sit it outside in your yard. walk by it whilst looking at the light changing over the face, you will see dimpling on the face. a sort of large 1.45 inch dimple where each locator is fixed on the rear. -
thanks mate
i use a 2 part glue the one that come out of a mixer tip cart on the corners of the dibond and somthimes if i use a fair bit i have seen what the glue can do as it heats up marking the face of the dibond not a good look -
yip, similar to the one i use, comes in a double barrelled gun with mixer tip. 😀

We use 19mm pvc, and screw from backside, if you want distance we have used snapfix on pvc letters or we use the router to make holes that we then thread.
Have just made 10mm thick letters in aluminium for Bang & Olufsen main shop here.
Here is a sign made with 2mm aluminium cut in the shape of their garage doors we then made an ally frame on the back to give it some distnace from the wall.
We only use 1.5mm or 2mm ally here, no Dibond or Reynobond, and have a 2.5m box and pan folder
