Looks really nice, I like the outline, although as a crit. I find the name a little hard to read.
Still good though, and the colours are nice together.
So come on, tell! Did you cut yourselves, or sub out? How did you get the colouring on, is it vinyl? (See, I know nuthin!) 😳

Cheers Shane,
All 10mm PVC
Lorraine,
Cut the letters out with a jigsaw covered with orange vinyl with application tape on it.
Trimmed the vinyl to the shape of the letters with stanley knife and then spreyed the edges orange.
Then put the the cream and the gold vinyl on the letters and assembled
Really enjoyed it but on reflection I think I would get the letters cut elsewhere, as there was quite a bit of cleaning up of the edges etc but the sign looks really good in situ and the owner is very pleased

Well done Paul that’s really nice, love the layout and font. 😀
Out of interest did you look into getting the letters cut from orange
acrylic or did you just fancy giving it ago yourself?. -
Hi Martin
I did want to have a go at doing it all this time so I just used the materials I had in stock.
I think I will out-source the letters next time and using colour coded materials would be the way to go I think

Hi Paul,
I would not give up on hand cutting letters with a jigsaw a friend of mine does it all the time, then paints them by hand, he has got so use to it especially for pubs that he now finds most of his work comes that way and btw he has only been cutting for about 18 months.
job looks great well done, onwards and upwards.
Regards Russ

looks well Paul, you must be pleased mate. specially for a first time!
colouring it etc does get long winded. been there done it too mate. its a time thief & worth getting the colour coded material in for it.
that said, the covering in vinyl is a better option if the material is some sort of foamex. all foamex has a terrible UV life. that orange would have lost lots of colour in a matter of months. so well done there…
jigsawing like has been said can eat some time too… but as Russ says. once you do it a few times you get into the swing of it and can manage much faster. a while back we used to cut everything with a jigsaw and band-saw. once the demand for this type of sign got much higher, we replaced the man cutting for a cnc router. unless letters of about 6 inches and lots of them, ide try managing cutting yourself to get a bit of practice in. anything under 6 inches cut by hand isn’t worth the hassle.was this your first time fitting raised letters? if so… how did you find fitting?
i like the way the main text slightly flags/waves, rather than just at a straight angle.
thanks for taking the time to show us your work mate 😀 -
Nice work Paul and you did a great job considering its your first go at cutting the lettering out yourself.
We had a go but found it very time consuming so we still opt for buying in at the moment.

Looks great Paul 😎
Did you create the design or was it given to you? looks very professional.Really nice to see (or not to see as the case maybe), any visable fixings.
Its well worth the little bit of extra time & effort to hide any obvious fixings… well done m8

Cheers Rob
I enjoyed the fitting of this sign as it was very easy and quick
The client came out and looked at it when it was just the backboard covered in little nylon cups and looked a little disapointed
but five mintes later when he looked it was finnished
We used the ball and cup locators from a local compny http://www.snapfix.co.uk/ and the worked really well
Darren, we did the whole design for them, I don’t know if I should show you what they had up there before 😉

very nice
think i would do the same as you i have not done a flat cut letter job yet so i think i would enjoy making thempaul when you say pvc is that fomex ???
i like the idea of making and fitting from start to finish
if i were making 2 or 3 of these a week then may be i would think about getting the letters cuttop job and looks great
rich
also thanks for link to supplier web link -
Yes Rich
Foamx Forex etc
The reason we chose forex is because we had it here at the time, it’s easy to work with and it gave the desired thickness (10mm)
I will send off for samples of as many different materials in the new year and have a play
I would love to have a go with signfoam if there is a supplier in the uk

And who says the Cornish are laid back and you can never get anything done.
Although you haven’t received them yet so perhaps I should keep quiet.

I really like it, love the colors, and can read it easily.
(the locals probably all know the name,
and by the time they leave who can read anyway?)
I think you did a great job.I have used SignFoam for ages, you have to be careful cutting it tho as it can be fragile on the thinner serifs.
It does make a huge mess too, but as a compensation it cuts like butter.
It’s also fun to sand the edges smooth, or distress the letters so that they look old.Be sure to use the primers that accompany SignFoam.
It accepts paint or gold leaf beautifully when primed right.
Also try to get Precision Board, man that is the cadillac of HDU.Love…..Jill
