  • Flat-bed laminator – Applicator recommendations please?

Posted by Danny Miller on October 9, 2014 at 7:44 pm

Hi looking at getting a flatbed laminator, can anyone recommend which brand to go with , was looking at the rolls roller, also has anyone brought one used and what was the price different between new and used.

    Many thanks

    Hi Danny

Flat bed applicators rarely come up second hand as once people have them they never get rid!

There are lots of people making them apart from rolls roller now.

If you have a Google for flat bed applicator there are loads to choose from, at the sign and digital show there were lots on display.

I think the most important thing is getting the right size. For me it would need to take a 10 x 5 sheet but depends on your printer size etc.

Might sound like a stupid question but what are you planning to use the machine for? Applying app tape? Laminating? Applying prints to boards? Making flex face signs?

    Or something different?

    Cheers

    Alex

    Hi Alex

Thanks for replying , will be using it for a little of all the things you said but i think the main use , would be mounting to boards. I have also noticed that there is hardly any second user models around, withs regards to choice thats one of the main problems , not knowing which brand to use and getting value for money as every penny saved is a great help.I think 8 x 4 should be big enough for me.

    Thanks Danny

I personally have the Rollsroller flat-bed applicator. Had it a few years now and wouldnt be without it. great tool for any sign maker. mine is 5m by 1.5m wide i think… always better buying the biggest your budget or space will allow.

as has been said, theres lots of similar, be sure to buy a reputable one.

We bought a CWT from Paperlinx back in June-ish and don’t know how we ever coped without one. Ours is 4m by 1.5m allowing us to flood 10ft x 5ft boards easily.

Incredibly cheesy article in Sign Link:

Speak to Steve Peet at Paperlinx, they were superb to deal with.

I Put a Rollover 3000 x 1500 from Sign & Digital (Dublin) in last year,
Brilliant piece of kit,, I love the fact it hasnt a top gantry bar to have to work around, this was my main reason for picking it,
I would have liked a 5meter but hadn’t the room, it’ll do 3m and longer sheets, you just put the first bit on and pull it down the bed before applying the rest, 2 second job.
They are a great piece of Kit, flood coating 10 x 5 sheet is now a one person job in a few minutes 😀
Also great for putting application tape on
